By "little public service announcement" I meant you sounded condescending in your first post, as if you were reprimanding all those bad internet folk that can't seem to use Firefox and it's spelling plugins properly.

What's there to discuss? Yes, English seems to be a foreign language to the internet -- it's an accepted fact. What else is there to say?

Would you rather listen to somebody who talks like
well..talks like s*** or would you rather listen to somebody
who talks understandable? I'm just saying that alot of people
on the internet talk understandable and alot of people talk not understandable
and for those people who can't be understood then edit your posts
so they can be understandable. headslap.gif
-Sorry for my language.

-Sorry for my language.

It's not so much poor spelling I can't handle, it's adding in needless line breaks like you do.

What ticks off people more, I've noticed, is the format rather than the details. Like f'r instance, I could handle a post with poor spelling and be all "well that's fine I mean nobody's perfect, plus some people are bad with English" so yeah, but when you put in needless line breaks (for which there isn't ANY excuse at all) I just hate it. It makes the post even more confusing to understand than a few uncrossed T's.

Also "bad language" on the internet is meaningless; it's the New English.

Those are all rhetorical questions. They have obvious answers and don't instigate discussion; you're just masking your complaints in the guise of questions -- but they're still complaints and nothing more. Your inflammatory inquiries do no more than encourage people to give you negative attention.

Also again, I find irony in this laughable grammar you keep using -- "I'm just saying that a lot of people on the internet talk understandable and a lot of people talk not understandable." You claim people need to learn to spell and justify your complaint with the fact you can't understand them, but the same goes for people who can't use grammar properly. Horrible grammar makes people as hard to understand as bad spelling does. So why don't we just discuss bad grammar while we're at it?

Also, if this is "just a discussion thread," then why are you telling people what to do. Stop playing policeman.

Do you have an impulsive, uncontrollable right pinky that just, unbeknownst to you, hammers the Enter key while you're not looking or something?

Oh, bad grammer, and internet sayings...

Speaking Of Poor Grammar, How's About Capitalizing Each Word In A Sentence?

How the hell does ANYONE do this? Who taught them to do this? How can they think of doing this?

I hate it... ohhhh I can't just tell you guys enough how much I hate it.

And internet sayings I'm fine with, it's just an abundance of them combined with poor grammar and spelling (overall) that I despise.

It's funny -- they seem to think typing like that makes whatever their saying appear to be more legitimate or something.

Sometimes I do that but Not All The Time In The Same Sentence Like This
If I capitalize that means that I find the word "Important"

Well sometimes it is necessary like if somebody posted something that nobody could understand then some people might correct all of their spelling mistakes... But if somebody just corrects one spelling mistake in a sentance <-- Just like that one then you are right, people should not correct just one spelling mistake.

No, he's talking about that they're clearly losing the argument, so they turn Grammar Nazi in order to try and derail the other person's post and negate it.

Really annoying.

I don't care if the grammar/spelling isn't perfect. Since posting involves explaining, it depends if the message the user is successfully trying to explain his/her message. No matter how fancy one's writing is, it doesn't mean anything if the user can't explain his/her point. For example, "The greatest thing in the whole world is my dog; it plays and stuff, if you know what I mean. My cat." has perfect spelling/grammer, but it is ineffective at explaining. It has useless material such as "if you know what I mean", and is confusing. However, something like "my dog is the greatest thing in da world" has no period, capital letters and bad spelling ("da"), but it gets straight to the point, unlike the previous example. Therefore, I don't care if the spelling/grammer in a sentence isn't perfect, as long as its point is clear.

But spelling does help, so you can understand better, but the main point is
to understand what they are trying to say.
