If you want it to be 99% true as to what country you're from.. why not have it check the IP?

Without it being able to be picked.

I assume that's harder

anyway I was hoping that MFGG could be like every other forum with flags on earth and actually use it maturely.

Aside form being rather tricky, it would require WHOIS lookups for every single post.

I think this is better than slowing the board down wink.gif

I'd love to visit this MFGG, but sadly from what i've noticed...

I could think of a few ways that wouldn't slow the board down as much in theory... Like if It checked the IP and if the IP matched the previous check it wouldn't do a Whois.

But yeah i can see how it'd be tricky.

might be possible if it did it straight after an account is registered

wouldn't help much for the 4000-odd members already registered, but still

Is it REALLY necessary to create a wiki article about this, by the way?

I don't even see why we have wiki articles on "Avatar" and "Signature" when these things are not even related to MFGG or MFGG forums other than being a widely-internet-known forum feature.

Assigning country flags via IP check wouldn't be too difficult, I'd imagine.

And so the green, yellow, and blue ran high and free!

(Actually born in America, but apparently haven't got any American blood in me. Just Brazilian and Italian. Oh well, i'm already in Brazil anyways.)

Glad to see this finally put in!

So maybe I should be sporting the Italian, French or Spanish flags.

Except that's not really how this feature works, or maybe I'm wrong?

Didn't you say you lived in Brazil now, anyway?

Because if you do, then the Brazilian flag is the one you should have.

I need to think of some neat ideas like this to... time to finish up that Brawl skin for MFGG.

Though the flag before the username is a bit odd looking, might want to move it to somewhere like under the post count or member bar or something.

EDIT: Yay I'm from Togo now! Even though I'm not, lol.
I'll change it later, just having fun sandboxing.

Nicely done BS. I like it.

It doesn't really seem like many opportunities for "humor" come with it anyway, so it shouldn't be a big concern. They're supposed to identify preset countries after all. It seems like most false locations would either be incredibly easy to pick up on (like Afghanistan) or pointlessly hard to pick up on. It's not as if people upload their own.

At the very least, it'll probably work out much better than when Pixeltendo had gender ID worked in.
