'"the internet" this" and "'the internet' that" are phrases I'm hearing a lot, but I don't see their validity. This is the "internet", but we are still people, right? Just because this is not the "normal" (human body, face-to-face, breathing the same air, etc.) communication, it's still communication, and people can take that "seriously" (as you say).

By your same line of reasoning, trying to prove a point of your own over "the internet" would be "taking the internet too seriously". Is that incorrect? If I am, please let me know because I would rather fix a misunderstanding now then to hold onto it.
