I have a few Golden Mushroom ideas:

- In certain levels, you must race a blue Shy Guy to the finish line to get a Golden Mushroom. If you lose the race, you can choose to rematch the Shy Guy or just keep moving on. This is kinda like the races with Koopa the Quick, Il Piantissimo, and Cosmic Mario.

- In some levels, you'll have to play a small memory minigame hosted by red and green Hammer Bros. These minigames are as simple as: "Guess which Piranha Plant came out of the pipe.", "How many Spinies did the Lakitu throw?", or even a trivia show on previous events in the game. If you pass the minigame, you get a Golden Mushroom.

- A few Blue Coin challenges, in which you must collect all the coins before time runs out.

Hmm... THat sounds like it could be fun.

If I remember correctly, each level has 3 Gold shrooms ( I think...) so that means each level could be set up the same in termsof it's gold shrooms.

For example-

1. Special event- This could be like the trivia or a lil mouser event.

2. Hidden- This will be in a box somewhere, but no to hard to find.

3. Super special- These are hidded in areas that only certain characters can access (to preven a player from unlocking all the secrets on their first playthrough.)

Yeah. What if the course might change a bit while racing. Things could be blocked off, or things could be added, so that it would be smoother and better. That way it could feel like more of a race than the level with a time limit

Well, it's not like the "event" is randomly generated, so if a level had a race then it wouldn't have to be altered. Besides, an even could be accesed via warp pipe so the regular area of game play wouldn't have a break in the flow.

I don't know if anyone has played Legend of Starfy for the DS, but it has special hidden rooms (the doors are marked with a star) where you meet up with a friendly character that offers a challenge that unlocks stuff. I'm thinking we could do like wise.

K, idea for the midas machine fight.

As we all know, the machine is powered by the golden hand, so heres my idea.

In the BG, you see various piles of golden shrooms (the ones Syrup kept for herself?) and closer to the play field is a pile of gold minishrooms from NSMB.

Anyways, in the fight, you hit certain buttons or something on the machine, I haven't thought that part out. Anyways, after a few hits it will accidently fire a laser at the minishrooms, turning one back to normal. the character will automaticaly eat it, shrink, and enter the machine. The player will then have about 2 minutes to get to the core of the machine by getting through a mini level.

In the core you will find the hand of midas which will rise up and fight by trying to smash you and what not. After your time runs out, or you deal enough damage, a suction system will expel you from the machine and you will return to normal size. Repeat.

It sounds a bit Master Handish don't it?
I really like that plan SGG,
Back to the Buttons part maybe have like a little mind game like little coloured lights
flash and then you have to hit the coloured buttons in a certain sequence,
If you get 3 wrong attempts, the machine zaps you and you lose some health and
try again, so once the buttons have been pressed in the correct order the machine
then zaps the mini shrooms and so on.

But back to Hand part inside the machine shouldn't we have easy defeated minions
who act like a anti-virus trying to send the player out of the machine protecting the hand also?
I really like the idea of the minishrooms too :D

Overall, I like the plan I really do but I also feel like my plan was disregarded too,
Maybe if we fuse the ideas together? But remove the mirrors.

But, wasn't your idea mainly about mirrors?

Either way, the mirrors could work inside the machine. There could be mirror like enemies that you can flip, then pick up that deflect a laser attack from Midas's Hand.

Also, the hitting buttons in a certain order won't work mainly because we already have a boss that works just like that. I thing that the machine battle should be less strategy based and the hand should be mainly strategy based.

I sort of used Yak's idea and came up with a battle in the concept art topic.

Alright, I just brushed this past Guinea, and he approved.

In the Trial Ruins (from what I hear), there are people you can talk to. These people would not be ghosts or Toads, but people that gave large contributions to this project (Made sprites, came up with ideas, helped program when it was open source, etc.) Those that just chipped in ideas here will not appear.

Alright, I have an idea here, don't sit down cuz you'll jsut stand right back up.

K, the CFP combines all of MFGG's top talents and what not, right? Well, I thought of a way we can add one more field into that, and please, consider this before saying no.

3D models. STOP, not a word, let me finish... jeeze. K, I know we have some modelers here (honestly, I'm not sure how good any of them are, so this mght kill my idea anyways) so i was thinking we could use them.

Now, I'm not saying "Hey, lets throw models everywhere willy nilly!!!" Nope, I'm saying we use models to show LARGE bosses, like Mawl for example. Bosses who don't have too many complicated animations to begin with. Why would I want this? Purhaps you haven't noticed, but a couple of DS games (legend of starfy for one) have used Sprite vs. 3D battles in there games, and I for one found it veeeeery interesting. It really helped to build up the suspence of the fight/

I mean, if anything, I think we should keep it in mind, and I'm not talking "Amazing PS3 HD models" I'm talking DS quality. Please, I know it's a odd idea out of the blue, but we want this game to be something that shows what MFGG can do right? So lets not trash the idea right away please.

I'm not a big fan of using models, but you have a really good point there. If we use DS quality models it shouldn't differ them to much anyway.

Unfortunately using 3D models and using 3D in a 2D game in GM is something I have never done before and so I can't say if this would work out. And I do not think there is anybody here who has experience with 3D models in a 2D game in GM.
What is always possible though would be to use prerendered 3D models.
I'll look what I can do to make 3D models possible though, assuming some modellers want to make models.

Ah ha! That's a great Idea, I'm more than happy to do a design based on that idea,
I recon it would be really fun to do :D

Also back on the buttons thing... hmm, this is hard, I have to think more on that
but what we have so far is good enough.

Oh and going on the 3D models thing, The Spongebob Toybots thing used a mix of
3D and 2D graphics which was great, But I think we stick to the the 3D characters
than 3D backgrounds and field because I noticed it slows the gameplay.

Well, prerendered is really what I meant, I just have a bad habit of leaving important details out.

I think that using 3D models is a good idea; they should be cel-shaded, though, so they fit in with the rest of the graphics.

And btw, I like Black Boo's idea, too.

I think in Toad Town, there should be a small club called the "Toad Town Treasure Hunters". It could be made up of a Bumpty, a Toad, and a Fang (random eh?)

They worship Wario as a great treasure hunter, but they are also impotant to the game.

There could be some levels where, instead of getting to the end, you are asked to find and bring back a suposed legendary treasure for them. The treasure is always a peice of garbage or a random item with a fancy title like "The legendary bottle cap of the gods".

These levels will be Wario exclusive on your first play through of them (they want to see their hero after all.)
