C'mon, this guy as a boss.

You find him in the desert. He sits atop a small floating platform and he tosses down his pets, the "Catcus" (cat like cactus) to fight you. Their only sharp parts are their pointy feet, so you are safe to flip them over and use them to know him down. When you knock him down, he will start to spin his arm. This will create some suction and you'll have to run away from him as debris flies at you. After a while a koopa will slide in, also trying to out run the suction. You have to hop on it to send the shell at the boss. If the koopa hits him (the whole koopa, not just the shell) then he will knock it flying. The boss won't stop spinning until he is hurt, or you are. Either way, after one of the two, he will hop back up on his platform.


Also, when he is low on health, he may throw a Cactog (cactus dog) that is covered in spikes and will follow you (he slips more than luigi though so he shouldn't be to hard to avoid.


I call this guy... Cacton.

I like it! But I think that the koopa should make a koopa noise when it comes onscreen, so the player knows that it is actually part of the fight.

Btw, you're really great at coming up with ideas for bosses.

Instead of a platform, why not a slightly ruined pillar to fit in the theme. It's basically in the background, so you can walk in front, but you can still hit him by throwing things and such.

And some cameo-ish object should fly in if you manage to dodge them long enough.

Each time the koopa should take longer to come, and the longer you dodge, the bigger the objects get, and the harder to doge.

I guess a pillar could work.
Not to big on the cameos, it seems like to much. We already have plenty of cameos.

As for it taking longer, thats a given.

Hmmm... Perhaps one of the trial ruin levels could take place inside a computer? Unless we can come up with a way for it to fit in the story.


Maybe when you are in the second area of Toad Town (the one you visit later in the game) you can stop by E. Gadd's lab and he can tell you that the Midas laser had an odd effect on his computer, and it zaps the bros and pulls them in and you have to fight a pixelated virus type monster as a miniboss. Maybe we could even make it looks like a battle from SMRPG, and in the fight, all 4 bros are present on the feild and you can do attacks and such. Mainly as a joke though, like the Underchomp fight in SPM.

Yeah, I like that idea,
And for it's attacks it can form in to forms from other viruses like:
Black Hat Virus: The Pixels form into a hat which launch MIPs at the player
Computer Worm: A part of the pixel forms into a worm that binds around a player for a period of time
Spam: The pixels shoot random letters and pictures at players
Trojan Horse: Forms a Horse which charges at player.
Palm OS Viruses: I was thinking for this one to link it with the Midas somehow due to the "Palm"
Techno: Yes, a actual virus, the pixels put on techno music which make them nuts and shoot at player in a pattern.

(Getting inspiration fomr Yak's concept art)
Maybe he has one form, and it's a box, and he has three 'D' shaped things (pixely) around him, so he fits his name better (I know 3D/three-d, but double-entendre is cool).

And you have to attack each one individually, but they orbit so it's harder. When you beat one, they begin to alternate and he moves towards you and tries to hit you with them, then when you destroy the second, it goes really fast and alternates, and he shoots it towards you and back again every now and then.
Then when the third one is destroyed he dies.

Cool ideas for the level and boss; it would be very cool if the boss transformed into different forms, like some of the ones Yak mentioned.

I have an idea for its character design: like SGG said, it could be a giant blocky lump(or one big pixel) at its center, only there should be lots of smaller pixels swarming around it in circular patterns. And if it does have an angry face, there shouldn't be a mouth. While in this normal form, all of its pixels are constantly changing colors.

During the fight, it keeps changing into different forms for different attacks. (like Miracle Matter from Kirby 64) You can't hurt it while it is in one of its attacking forms. You wait until it changes back into its normal form, and then you attack the central pixel. (maybe you have to break through the surrounding smaller pixels first) It takes at least four hits before being destroyed.

Music standards per song:

1. 2 second intro tune
2. 38 second looping theme
3. 15 second secondary theme, to be played after two loops have already been played

Total - 1:05 length per track, and this is based off of SMB1-3's musical standards
