Thats amazing. It could start as a normal town at first, but near the last few levels, it could turn gold.


Also, for an idea, I think worlds should be based as chapters. For example, say we used Glukom's idea, the chapter could be "Of Riches and Ruins" or something.

Also, who agrees - no returning bosses or main characters from other Mario games.
I say this because we're making this game as if it were real - we want it to feel that way. A real Mario game wouldn't have a million old characters added in.

Indeed. This makes a lot of sense. Really, the only recurring characters Nintendo uses are Bowser Jr. and Petey Piranha. Ironically, I hate both of them. But yeah, original bosses defiantly is the way to go I think

I've got an evolution on Waluigi's ability, so here me out here.

Instead of having him simply throw bombs, why not have him use a tennis racket? Waluigi can pick up enemies like Wario, and hit them with his tennis racket, but unlike wario, it kills the enemy the instant it touches a wall, but travels much farther. He could also throw bombs with his tennis racket, and when he's out of bombs, he can use his tennis racket as a melee weapon. He could even use his tennis racket to propel himself in water.

I dunno, may be kinda hard to sprite, but still.

Why? That could actually make for an interesting character, and actually seems to make sense considering that's basically the only games he's been in.

We could even poke fun at that with the story, you know, make him learn things that aren't related to tennis throughout the game. Cutscenes would be fun with him too (I dunno if we'll be doing these though, just throwing ideas out there.)

Yes, but this isn't a sports game. We need to take what we've seen of him aside from a tennis racket and use that to build him.


Also, I had an idea for an enemy. Since this game will have pirates, why not a pirate Lakitu? It can sit in the crows nest of the ships and drop Spinies.

K, I had some random add in idea for the story line. It might conflict with the current story, but I tried no to do that.

K so, Syrup teams up with Bowser claiming that she stole an ancient item that can help him destroy his foes and kidnap Peach. They use said item as the power source for the Midas Machine.

K, so at this point where still with the original story as far as I know, The Mario Bros head of to Peach's and meet up with the Wario Bros who were apparently looking for Syrup who stole a great treasure that they wanted. The 4 set off after Wario insists that Mario has to help him cuz "Your the good guy, you have to help". The Bros. Reach the castle to find the Princess gone and half of Toad town turned to gold.

K, fast forward to the end after the Bros. fight and the machine is stopped.

~This part can be a secret final thing for if you've collected all the gold shrooms.~

Syrup sneaks to the machines remains and takes out the "power source". She quickly turns Bowser and Peach to solid gold. She then explains that the item was an ancient artifact called the "Hand of Midas", rumored to be the hand of the king himself, able to turn anything to gold. She explains that she used Bowser to get Bros. in one location (for a perfect collection? To stop anyone who would try to stop her? Idk...)She decides that it might be fun to "test" them first, so she uses the hand to summon the final level "The Castle of Midas". It's mainly a normal castle split into 4 parts (one for each bro.) and it's made of gold (duh).

At the end, you fight Syrup who uses the hand to make herself into a gold monster of her former self.


I know this sounds complicated, but I think it could be cool, or at least to consider.

Sounds a bit too much like the third Aladdin movie to me. wink.gif I'm not real familiar with Syrup's personality, but that seems a little too...epic or something. The basic concept is okay.

Yeah, I kinda support a more simplistic storyline, without any incredible things happening. Like fighting the Midas Machine is simpler than fighting Syrup transformed, which I think is kinda weird anyway.

Not sure if this is already happening, but will we be using the slide ability? (for those of you who don't know, that is when you duck on a slope and Mario slides down it, taking out any enemies in his path.)

I can see Mario and Luigi sitting while doing this, Wario belly sliding, and I can picture Waluigi doing a tuck and roll.

I got a couple more ideas more this. Along with their abilities, characters should also be able to have special jumps such as: long jump, triple jump, backflip and the jump where you run and swich directions. an invetory where you can hold different items like fireflower, super mushroom or whatever other powerups that are going to be in the game could be in it as well. That way, if you get extra items along the way, you can use them, or selll them at a store later.

Could we also, since there is going to be a map, have a toad town level? there is no objective and you can return to the game whenever you want but it is kind of like a safe zone. There could be stores and toads around the town to talk to or that have lost something in "such and such a level" level that if you find it for them, they will give you an item to help you.

I also really want you to be able to replay the level as many times as you want.

I know that this is a lot of ideas but I would like some feedback on whether or not you want to use them.

Hey Guinea, what about level fitting foes? For example, Shyguys become pirate shyguys on ships, and Lakitu's become Pirate Lakitus (They pop out of crow's nests on ships instead of clouds). They act the same, they just look different.

EDIT: But I think we could make an exception with Bowser Jr, since he has been used a lot by Nintendo.

As far as switchable players go, is it a required thing (like in Mario and Luigi, you are required to use either Mario or Luigi to get through some puzzles), or is it like one of those things where switching is not required, but some character might be a "better" choice?
