This indicates that I am joking around.

But I do believe Canada is a better place to live.

If you lower the drinking age, of course there will be less underage drinking. I have mixed feelings about this, mainly because one of my friends got in serious car accident last Saturday and broke her neck. Alcohol was involved.

On one hand, there's the reverse-psychology theory. On the other, many college and high school aged kids aren't mature enough to handle alcohol (as seen with my friend). I dunno, just seems like a bad idea. If you're caught underage drinking, I think that's initiative enough to stop.

My thoughts exactly.

No offense meant to Americans though. Just saying because our drinking age is lower than yours.

I am pretty sure it is lower in Quebec.

I could care less about beer, etc. though. I think it causes problems.

If you lower the age they'll be going "Woo it's legal, lets drink"

If you don't they'll be going "Screw the laws, I'm gonna drink anyway"

i.e., the only thing this would change is the amount of people you can arrest for it.

Well, over the long term if it's legal to drink when you're 18 then 18 year-olds would drink less at a time and thus be safer than they would be.

That's the general gist of it.

that's basically what Keyser said.

So at 16 I can go to Iraq, get shot at and (possibly) die for my country but I can't enjoy a few rounds with my good buddies?

Haha americans

Isn't your drinking age, like, 17 or something?
And seriously, don't let the idiots of our country speak for us.
We could easily just pick out the country folk from Newfoundland and have them speak for you. Or maybe the French people from Quebec? That ought to give you a nice image.
Seriously.
I am disappointed in you, Demonlemon.

Now isn't it just a little annoying when someone says those things about your country?
People who aren't from America just assume most of our country is stupid and ignorant.
Yet everyone seems to come here.

America might have its flaws, but most countries do. We also have a deal of shining moments, though.

Well, most of the Americans I know (plus some I don't know, IE the airline customs people) are pretty stupid and ignorant, but I realize that the whole country isn't like that. I've been to the U.S. before and the people I meet there aren't that bad.

But enough about which Country is better. I think people are entitled to an opinion on which country is better, but it shouldn't be forced upon others.

And I though Finland's parliament's idea of raising the prices of alcohol drinks was bad.

Or how parliament tried to decrease drunk driving by lowering the limit from 0,5 to 0,25 permilles.

I wrote my term paper in government class on this exact topic with all the same reasoning.

Not that anyone cares about the opinion of a minor on these sorts of things, as valid as they may be.
