Welcome to the Community Fangame Project, #2.
Let me present to you ....
THE RULES!And the Guidelines.
1) Explanation of vocabulary:CFP ....... Community Fangame Project. This is why you are here, so I hope you understand.OT ........ Organisation Team. The guys who run the CFP. This means specifically:
Guinea, Shyguy Grey.
LGM ....... Lateral Game Maker. A tool used to convert gmk files to gm6 files and de-fragmentation of IDs. It can be found
here.2) General Rules:- It is not allowed to create topics on this board. Only the OT (Organisation Team) is allowed to do so.All topics created by members who are not part of the OT, will instantly be
locked and deleted. You can also get bans and warns. (See: "Continuation of Locked topics" rule in the main rules.)
- Rules in the specific topics overrule this topic's rules.- Only post in topics, if your reply is relevant to the topic! That means: If you want to post in the Sprites WIP topic, you better want to ask a question about spriting or have a sprite to show.
It is not tolerated to start a discussion like
"I think such and such enemy would be a good idea, ***even though it's not on the list***, can I sprite it nevertheless?", or anything alike.
There will be a brainstorming topic. This is the place where you can make suggestions
- Only the To-Do list in the official sticky is official!Basically: Everything that is there is to be done. Everything that is not there, you should not do.
If you have an idea, go to the brainstorming topic and suggest it. If it is good, it gets added to the to-do list. If not, it's not official!
- When posting, please use proper grammar and spelling! That means, you should at least do so as good as you can. It is tolerable if you do a mistake here or there, but an overuse of l33tsp33k or anything is not.
We are not grammar nazis, but we want this clean and sane and understandable for everyone.
- Common sense!Don't try to find loop-holes in the rules.
Don't offend others, general board rules still apply.
And whatever Common Sense includes.
3) The Engine- The engine will get one (1) topic.- Only post, if your reply includes one of the following:> You want to edit the engine based on the TO-DO list.
> You want to point out an unreported glitch/bug.
> You want to ask a question. All questions/glitches/bugs will be summed up in the topics first post, so first read those before asking/reporting new ones.
If you want to point out a better method for solving a problem, just do that yourself.
Suggestions for go to the brainstorming topic, again.
- As soon as the engine is up, there will be a tutorial/help sort of thing.Stick to this, otherwise your engine version will be ignored and removed.
- If you want to add anything to the engine, type a text like this:"[ b ]I claim the engine for myself.[ /b ]
I add [insert what you add here].
I will be done in around [insert the time it will take you, maximum: 1 day]".
If the time you specified is over and you didn't reply, the engine is free for all again, so you better try to finish in time or at least post that you can't finish in time.
Certain members (especially myself, since I made the engine), will have the right to get the engine longer than 1 day.
This will only take effect, if there are complex bugs to fix, though, so don't worry!
- If you finished your work:Put "[ s ]"-tags around your claim (edit post).
Make a new reply with the engine uploaded to it.
The engine must be converted to a *.gm6 file with LGM.
The engine has a version number: 0-0-0. You only change the THIRD of those. (0-0-0, 0-0-1, 0-0-2, etc.)
Don't add more numbers. There will always be 3 numbers, no more, no less.
This is what the numbers mean: "Release" - "Major Edit" - "Minor Edit".
4) The Graphics (includes sprites, backgrounds, tiles, etc.)- The graphics will have two (2) topics. One topic is for Finished Graphics (and finished sprites ONLY!) and one is for WIP Graphics.
The Finished topic includes a list of what is to be done.
The WIP topic includes tutorials and guidelines.
- Only do graphics listed on the List in the Finished Graphics topic! All graphics on the list are 100% sure to be in the game.
If you sprite anything that is not on the list, you might waste your time, since it could end up not being in the game!
- Finished Graphics topic: Only post if you have a finished graphic! No questions, no suggestions, no critizism*. Only finished work.
If you want C+C, post the graphic in the WIP topic first!
*critizism is allowed if you find a flaw in the graphic or its animation, however most of the critizism should be used when the graphic is still in the WIP topic.
- WIP topic: Only post, if your reply includes one of the following:> You want to ask a question regarding the spriting technique.
> You have a WIP sprite to show.
> You want to comment/critique on a WIP sprite.
Suggestions for new sprites that are not on the list go to the brainstorming topic, again.
5) Sounds and Music- This gets one (1) topic.Since sounds and music are not as much as graphics, 1 topic will do.
All finished work will be listed in the first post.
- Same rules as usual: Only post if you:> You want to ask a question.
> You have a WIP sound/music to show.
> You want to comment/critique on a WIP sound/music.
Suggestions for new sprites that are not on the list go to the brainstorming topic, again.
- Unlike the other topics, you can also suggest sound rips.Since Mario sounds don't really exist in *so* many variations that it'd be worth making custom sounds for everything.
Just don't claim them as your own.
Music should be all custom though (if we get enough musicians!)
- We haven't yet agreed on a filetype or style of music, so the sounds and music topic will not be there from the beginning!Instead there will be a Discussion topic about this.
6) Discussion Topics- From time to time we will have these. They are prefixed with "!Discussion!".
You only discuss what the topic asks for. These are pretty similar to the topics we made before the CFP started (with the moves and such).
- As soon as the discussion is over, the topic will be locked. The discussion is supposed to bring a decission. After this is done, the result goes to the official sticky.
Again, everything that is NOT in the official sticky is not official!
- Only post if you have to contribute to the discussion and can follow the specific rules posted in the topic.7) Brainstorming Topic- In this topic you can basically do what you want. You could say it's the CCC of the CFP.Post your ideas (as long as they don't contradict the current plan!), comment on other people's ideas, improve them.
- Nothing in the Brainstorming topic is official unless the OT puts it in the official To-Do list in the stickies. If you fail to listen to these rules, the CFP will most likely fail, too.So for the sake of having a success, please read these rules and if you have questions or suggestions on rules to add, don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for reading.
