| QUOTE (Mr. Bird @ May 6 2009, 07:10 PM) | Still hyping this indeed.
So some questions. |
and I will gladly answer them!
| QUOTE (Mr. Bird @ May 6 2009, 07:10 PM) | | 1. I saw in the video that the ball had the hat and the pipe, and still collided with the floor like a ball. Are there pre-built shapes (Eg. ball, box,) For 2D physics only, or can you make it fit the sprite(Eg. a monkey) to collide. |
All objects are made using specific body shapes. Well technically anyway. There's box, ball and polygon. Box and ball you probably already know what looks like, so I won't explain those. Polygon, on the other hand, is pretty much a custom shape made using coordinates. You can add body shapes onto eachother to make complex objects too. Although using a single shape is probably best, because then you won't have silly collision problems that you would with, say, a monkey. Its still possible to make ragdolls and all, since they're just a lot of boxes onto eachother.
| QUOTE (Mr. Bird @ May 6 2009, 07:10 PM) | | 2. Do you think this will EVER support online play? |
Yeah. I don't get the 'ever' in capital though because it has been supporting online ever since it was announced although I might have left that out, I'm not sure in that case, you know it now!
Though there's really different kinds of online. There's the local server, and then there's the remote server. Local server is pretty much like TF2 where every player hosts his own game and others join. Remote server is one huge server that everyone connects to. MechaSource provides a feature to host the local servers easily, though the remote servers you'll have to figure out a way to host yourself. MechaSource provides the software for a remote server, but you'll have to find the place to do it. MS doesn't provide a global remote server for you to use, because in that case, everyone would use it and it'd be pretty stuffed easily and lag. And that's no good.
| QUOTE (Mr. Bird @ May 6 2009, 07:10 PM) | | 3. Are these games able to be de-compiled or something to be editable? |
Hopefully not. All files are encrypted several times and also turned into binary code ps. binary code is hell to modify
| QUOTE (Mr. Bird @ May 6 2009, 07:10 PM) | | 4. how many people do you think would be using this program in about one year? |
I can't say as of yet. It can either be a huge success or a massive downfall. tbh I can't really say one's more likely than the other, although the exclusive games that I've made (and those other people will hopefully make, too) will make it more interesting over time (like a linear curve on a graph!)

Thanks for answering my questions. But your answers gave me a few more. (These are responses/more questions in order to your answers)
1. How hard would it be to use these coordinates? Could you show me a picture or something on how it would work?
2. That's pretty cool.
3. Well some people may be determined enough if there is a game that they just have to have.
4. As soon as this thing is able to be used, I would try to advertise it as much as I can in my signature on different forums and other popular places to make sure this program is a huge success.
Now with 90% less "Well"s!

 made using | CODE | 18;0, 5;10, -5;10, -18;0 -20;0, -15;-30, 0;-60 ,15;-30, 20;0 |
might look a bit messy but its pretty simple also two shapes btw
| QUOTE (Mr. Bird @ May 6 2009, 09:38 PM) | | 3. Well some people may be determined enough if there is a game that they just have to have. |
yes ofcourse
which is why I'm in strong communication with Aquadasoft that provide both the security features and anti-scam features
All released game's files are being scanned regularly and if they've been modified in any way = ban just the simplest edit results in this, leaving the 'cracker' unable to use them at all
and binary code is a bit different than you might think. Think of a file. Now think of it in binary. Now try to edit that without completely ruining the file. It's really hard. Not to worry though, we aren't relying only on the binary code encryption. We have a load of other encryption options in use and everyone should be pretty safe. I'm making sure of this especially because my games are on there, too. also keep in mind that once someone tries to modify these files = ban.
However, for customizable files, I've made a certain folder that players can modify as much as they want, however it doesn't contain any source code or anything
| QUOTE (thingy @ May 6 2009, 09:46 PM) | Imma use it if I can do stand-alone.
Still not sure if it supports it, but I may have missed something. |
I answered this a while ago, and the answer was no. However I've refrained from answering this time, because there's been some changes, and at the moment I can't really state if that's the final answer.
