Runescape is voted the most popular free MMORPG, for the second year in a row.

I don't care if you don't like it or think the graphics make it too hard to play or any of that crap.

I play it, although no where as near as much lately due to the good computer screwing up.
It just got a huge graphics update, too, so yeah.

Any comments about this?

I actually played Runescape alot a few years back. Then I realized the graphics sucks.

Then I saw the graphical update and thought "oh hey that looks neat", but now I just hate the click-to-move system so I can't really pick it up again.

This is like being awarded the hottest granny.

Tried it years ago, realized what a waste of time it was.

I can't believe it won again.

The game has no point to it... All you do is keep leveling up until you can't take it anymore.
So yeah, I got bored of it quickly.

It looks a lot better but it's just, we don't care anymore.

Graphical update? Meh. Looks the same to me.

Anyways, the game looks like ****. How can people like ****? Runescape is about the worst piece of crap ever invented, and I personally think it's the worst in its genre, graphics and gameplay wise.
The Free crap is totally unfair also. Archers only get like 3 bows, While Swordsman and Mages have so many more options.

popular isn't the same as good.

If you ignore community runescape actually is pretty good featuring quests that arent just kill x monster or collect x item


you can chose what kind of char you want to be, all around mix, non compater or go purelly on one stat



but yes the community is **** , the premium servers are less crowded though and more enjoyable

Quests? Uhm. Quest make up about 10% of the fun in an MMORPG, IMO. I can live with the non-fancy quests.

True, you can technically be a "Warrior Archer Mage" but who cares? Many other games offer more classes and much more skills. The mix is rather worthless, just because the classes work in a triangle. If you fight against another Warrior Archer Mage, each will just try to change their equipment based on the other's equipment. Going Purely in one stat? Most MMOs allow customizable statistics. Here are the basic stats in Runescape:

Attack - Determines accuracy
Strength - Determines damage and weapons
Defense - Determines damage absorbed and armor
Magic - Determines magical spells
Range - Determines bows
HP - Determines Max HP.

You can't go purele in one stat, however, the stats aren't exactly customizable either.

Who'd pay $5 a month to play Runescape? That'd be about the worst deal I would make in my life.

5 bucks isnt much unless you are a kid


anyways you can be pure str or attack, you have the choice in not training any of the other stats

classes are rather boring limiting to one type of attack, and you dont have to switch eq unless its bows and melee weapons


when you attack with a weapon you have the choice of using different types of attacks , one type increases your str, another attack another def and the last one all three together but at a slower rate

@Pancakes: You aren't really convincing me. Who cares if each weapon has 3 types of attack? That's rather pointless in my opinion. I know $5 isn't much but I still won't pay money for ****. I don't care about all these little extra features that other games DON'T have. The fact is that Runescape gets very boring after you play it enough. I quit playing at Lvl 51.

Little extra features doesn't = better game
Bad gameplay = bad game in general

it has good gameplay, the community is the only fault


oh and premium > free in every way it improves everything


and it isn't pointless, as i said before you can choose what stats you want to upgrade

How is the gameplay any good?

Click a spot. Attack Lv 1 Enemy
Enemy does 2 damage to you even though you have 30 defense
You try to damage enemy, but end up missing, even though your accuracy is 30.
You die and lose all of your items (what a stupid concept).
Get reborn. Look for a quest.
Quest says make Juliet and Romeo happy.
You failed at quest because Juliet isn't happy.
Oh! Bed Time! *Log Off*

Please explain, because that's all I see when I think of Runescape gameplay. Add the word "click" after every word, and that pretty much explains how I view the gameplay.

In a way, the stats aren't "customizable" last I checked. You either have high of everything, or you suck in general. You can't have 1 Attack and 99 Strength. That doesn't work because you have very innacurate attacks. You can't do 1 Strength and 99 Defense, because then you can't kill anything. This mostly forces you to increase all statistics. They're customizable in that they're controlled by you. However, you can't do **** if you don't have every stat pretty high.

What else do I hate about Runescape:

1) Really stupid NPC chatting ("WHAT THE HECK IS THIS INTERNETZ YOU SPEAK OF?!")
2) No really item drops (Premium)
3) No heal spells. Either rely on good food, or die. (Last I checked)
4) Anything related to the word "Runescape"
