I actually think those are quite decent considering you're new at spriting. Nice job.


Here are some suggestions:

- Maybe try using fewer colors in future. There are a few shades on those sprites that probably are not strictly necessary.

- The brown part of the guy's clothing could use more contrast (difference between the shades of color used). Right now they are hard to distinguish.

- This one might seem a bit nitpicky, but the light source may have some issues on the blue part of the guy's clothing. Having a bit of lighter color ("shine") in the middle of an object works with rounded objects, but on the relatively flat front of a pair of overalls or whatever it is, the bit of lighter blue in the center sort of makes it look like the light source is close to the guy's chest; making more of his overalls be lit up by the light would likely give an impression of the light coming from farther away. The blue overalls (or whatever) could probably be given more contrast between the shades as well.


Something I think you did a really nice job on was your choice of the contrast level on the girl's hair. The contrast between the shades of yellowish color is easy to notice and looks good.

(Keep in mind that the light source is coming from underneath the way you did the shading on her hair, but that's not a problem unless you meant the light to come from above or something.)


Hopefully some other people can offer useful critique who actually know what the characters look like (or feel like going and looking them up). I can't judge the designs of the characters' clothing and stuff that accurately since I don't know what they looked like originally.

Not bad! Whatever Grant said, and you should make them slightly bigger too. They're kinda small.
