I like how people get mad at their parents for not paying bills that they themselves should be paying anyways.
Seriously, if you're going to get fussy at your mum or dad, Ashura, you need to do something about it yourself. This sort of complaint is justifiable from someone under the age of 18 and still in highschool because they can't help but live with their parents and their supposedly bad judgment. However, the moment you turn 18, a myriad of opportunities open up to you to rescue you from the woes of your homelife (i.e. getting a job, going to college, et al), and it's really your own fault for not taking advantage of them.
tl;dr if your going to live with your parents, be appreciative that at least they haven;t kicked you out of the house yet. You need to live by their rules and their shortcomings or mistakes, because it is in fact their house. You should be grateful you get anything.

Even if he did give his mother responsibility to pay for the bills, it's still his job to follow up and confirm that she did.
Plus, as long as he's still living under his parent's roof, it's not his place to complain about how things are done or what bills are paid or not. If his mother decided to never pay the bill again, then that's her choice to make since it's her house, no?
| QUOTE | Yeah, my mom pays for DSL
she's kinda short on cash
also she can't kick me out, I made a deal with my parents that they have to stick me inside the house as long as I stay in college. |
This considered, I don't think you're in any position to throw stones. The fact she's kind enough to pay for that at all should be fortune enough for you.
Well then you are bound by their regulations, as I said above. If you wanted to live by your own rules and be responsible for yourself, you should have considered living in a dorm or off-campus housing.

| QUOTE (Ashura @ Sep 4 2008, 06:28 PM) | It's not "her" house, it's our house.
my mom really needs to get a job, she got kicked out of her old accounting job due to "certain reasons", but most likely it was because her manager felt like her role was threatened as my mom has a bachelor's in accounting :/ |
Who pays the bills on the appliances? Who paid or is still paying for the house? If your mother does one (though more likely she does both of these things), it's her house legally. The only chance of you owning the house is if she has written for you to inherit it in her will and she dies, or if you pay rent, in which case you still don't even really own much more than the space your paying for (e.g. a room).
Have you gotten a job yet? If not, I don't think it's in your best interest to be calling the kettle black.
| QUOTE | Yeah, I do love my mom for being kind to us, despite her shortcomings :x
My college doesn't have dorm rooms; it's a community college. |
Well I didn't say you had to love her, but I guess that's better than just being grateful.
Well then you should have considered that when you applied to colleges. By attending a community college, you accepted that there would still be a significant restraint on your freedoms, as you would still be living with your parents. If you had really wanted to live on your own, you would have made a greater effort to apply and attend to a college that provided room and board, am I not mistaken?
I mean, that's what I did.
