Drawing Comp #88 Entry, WIP

Okay, so for the drawing comp, I plan on featuring a scene where the Axem Rangers face the protagonists of Super Mario RPG!

Pictures of what's been done do far:



Some changes were made to the overall forms of the Axem Rangers, mostly being their head piece, axe shape, body decor, etc. You should be able to notice if you've seen the real ones.

I plan on coloring these later and adding onto the list. Basically, my plan to make everything individually, color them all, then combine them all into one big image.

That's nice and all, but wasn't the theme boss battle? There aren't any appearant battles in this picture :x

You probably didn't read the bottom.

The theme was "boss battles" yes. Here's the thing though if I wasn't clear enough:

I plan on making each character individually, about one per half page.

Basically, I'm only about 5% done.

I still need to make:
-Mario, Mallow, Geno, Bowser, and Peach
-A Background
-Add coloring to EVERYTHING, which takes a while in my case.
-Combine everything into one picture.

In other words, I'm doing everything separately, but in the end, you'll find them fitted together in some form or other, which will appear like the beginning of a battle. Think of it like a collage, sorta.

Coloring for Axem Red. I'm basically stylyzing them in my own way. In this case, Axem Red has a long axe, depicted with flames on it, and the axe blade is on fire. He has no shirt on......I guess. :P



I've still got plenty more coloring and drawing to do, but at this rate, I can get done on time. Assuming I don't procrastinate and or have computer problems.

Seriously! you really need to tell me how you do the computerized line art so well!

Because this is fantastic.

I didn't even do the lineart on the computer.

Here's what I did:

1) Clean up the messy lines
2) Darkened the current lines.

It's only a few steps, but the first step can take awhile.

Ashura sketches his on a paper, but then he uses a tablet (it's like a drawing board) to create his lineart.

I'd do mine manually, but I'm very unsteady with a mouse.

Here comes Axem Pink, the only chick of the Axem Rangers! She's characterized by tons of hearts. The shape of her axe blade is suppose to look like hearts, and lips at the same time. I think I made her boobs a bit too big though.....oh well!



NOTE: I have like 2 weeks left to work, so the pace will naturally speed, up which may slightly reduce quality. They shouldn't clash too much though, after it's all over.

Give Axem pink a little heart and a wink to give it appeal like this:

It'll look cuter if you do that.

It's sorta too late. I could go back and do it again, but that would take too much effort. I might try it though....

Yes, I just switched it right away. I make a bigger deal out of things than they should be.

Allow me to present the 3rd Axem I've colored - Axem Green! Green is skinny and weak, so giving him a bigger "set of pants" will give off the illusion that he's skinny. He has the smallest axe, due to his preferred tactic to use magic. The stars are meant to represent the fact that he's the strongest Axem Ranger in the magic department! He looks a bit too......childish.....Yay!



DOUBLE Posting a bit too much so here's my 4th picture.

Axem Black! Last I checked, he was the fastest of the Axem Rangers, and was able to attack twice in the same turn. He also uses bombs, hence why he's holding one. He's totally black to represent the fact that he's trying to be cool, and therefore, ruins the color coordination of the entire team by standing out. Crosses (Or X) represents him. His axe was made to look lighter with a more sickle like shape to it, so he can freely move around without worrying the axe will affect his speed. Do the shades actually make him look cool......possibly!

3 Day-ish bump update.

Axem Yellow is done, which is about 75% of 33.3% of all of the picture. Yellow is the most bulky, and I depicted him as being the one with the biggest belly. His axe is the most simple in design, but it's size is much larger compared to the other Axem Rangers. His symbol is what appears to be a hammer. His overall body desigb, however, is partly based off sumo wrestlers (those really fat japanese men who fight each other).



Now, I just need to combine them all into one image, and that's 33% of the picture.

Time for Phase 2: The Protagonists. I'll be posting them in the order they come into the party.

The first one is Mario! This is actually my first time drawing him. He looks a little bit shorter than usual, but that's okay. It makes it look funny :]

His M looks like a Love Heart,
Can you try fixing it if possible?

I'm not lying when I say I can't.
It doesn't look like that much of a heart, does it?

Here's Mallow and Geno.

NOTE: Geno is technically just a lifeless doll who isn't possessed by the star. That's why it has a blank-ish expression.





All that's left now is Bowser and Peach. And the background.
