actually you didn't. Because they're not sailing anywhere except to the port of MFGG where they shall be anchored and converted into houses. Houses that people will live in. Houses that'll need some serious maintanance in 20 years when the water gets in. Though I suppose most skins already absorb water... oh well.


THE THREE SKINS IN QUESTION ARE

The "New Default" New MFGG Skin - created by Techokami... sorta. Truth is it's a collaboration of two incomplete skins that have been hanging around since god-knows when, with lots of cool new layout features and images and whatever. It probably should have been released in 2006 along with MFGG 2.0, but hey, better late than never.

The "prototype to New MFGG but was radically changed into a NSMB skin" NSMB skin - created by myself. And holy shizzle it's a light one too. The only issue? I accidentally based it on an old template, so forum searches don't work.

The "WTF am I adding this one for" Life on MFGG skin - updated since it was last used in August. Non-casuals of the day, don't bother asking questions as to why it's so... weird. It just is. And I wanted a TRIPLE SKIN FINISH. And it's my birthday, so shut up.

Well fear not, for the old default (Now labelled as "MFGG Default 2003-2008") is still selectable. Yes the 595 members using the old default have been switched to the new one. But you can switch back if needsbe. Amazing. But why did it need replacing?

Because it's old. 2003 old. That skin's been the default for nearly FIVE years and I think it's starting to show its age. The colour choices weren't top notch, with its teals and completely blue post screen with IPB default borders, and it's not really that appealing anymore. Though it has improved since 2003 (the links aren't all yellow like they once were), the default that you have enjoyed these last few years has so much wasted potential it's crazy. You may have noticed I fixed up a few images like post icons but it still wasn't fantastic. And furthermore what's worse is the fact that half the skins on here have the same colour problems because they're based off that skin! Since our board's creation IPB have upgraded their services to the 2.x series. We're not upgrading because chances are badges etc. would need to be re-installed, but there's no reason why we can't make a IPB 1.x board look newer!

Now granted, I'm not a huge fan of my 2007 tileset. Techo is, apparently, and so are others, hence it's inclusion in the new default. Visited links are orange which may take some time to get used to but could potentially be useful. f_norm_dots etc. are actually used this time (previously only used on the winter skin in the form of snowflakes). Basically it means if you visit a topic, the little icon representing that topic gets a green dot. More useful IPB functions ignored in the day.

Will it be liked? Possibly not. But I don't care because really, you haven't "lost" anything at all. I'm sure Techo is willing to take any advice on how to improve it, but I personally reckon it is rather sexy.



The New Super Mario Bros. Skin is mine. It is light, but not "blindingly light" (no really if you think it is you need to get your eyes checked). It was started before Techo's revisions of the new default, hence it not being perfect. However if you're not too worried about the broken forum search (which will inevitably be fixed I'm sure) I recommend it. Makes MFGG look fresh and sophisticated and all that jazz. Could bring smiles to more faces. Lot of bad memories on Codec Cyan for me, and though that skin's great, this was a welcome change.

Oh and special thanks to Treeki and people like Ragey and whatnot for rips.

Any flaws, give me a buzz. I know of a few already but my HTML skillz are pretty average really, hence these flaws not being fixed just yet. But I can't imagine the skin being half ready for ever. It isn't the best skin for moderators - just throwing that out there.



And finally, the Life on MFGG skin. It was originally developed to only deal with forums, not things like My Controls and the index etc. I tuned it up, now it's pretty much ready to go, complete with the almost-unreadable Lucida Console font. It's a joke skin, don't take it too seriously. Whether it'll remain selectable forever is yet to be seen, but I'll give you plenty of notice if I decide to pull it.



It's also my birthday. And a "big" one at that. And as such the possibility of more stuffs could become a reality... though it might not. I haven't decided.

Wow, this new default is rockin'!

It's a little brighter then the old default, and the yellow links are way weird, but I think I can totally do with it.

New default makes everything feel different. Though I think it's gonna be hard to choose between New MFGG and Mars.

I really didn't get that good a look at it the first time around, due to only being online for a short time while it was put up.

Love the NSMB skin, only thing i notice strange is the 8-bit sprites in the top corner for Help etc etc...

All the skins are still inferior to Booberry.
