My dog bit my aunt for picking up garbage he threw out of the trash and he lunged at here biting her about 7 times. The wounds were not bad, it's just the fact the he bit her is what my family is worried about. So if the breeder won't take him back, then we might have to put him to sleep. I am really depressed right now and my dads crying like I have never seen him. I don't think he is capable of being trained not to bite. It's even sadder that he doesn't even know whats going to happen to him tommorrow. I need some advise how to get through this.

What the ****? He bites, so you're just going to put him to sleep? Have you even tried training him not to bite or done some research as to a correct way to do it?

A breeder will want nothing to do with a dog that bites even if they sold it to you, since it would just end up being their responsibility to put the dog down.

We had to do the same thing with our German Shepard after she bit our pregnant neighbor.

Whether or not you have to put the dog down is a judgment call and depends on how severe the attack was and how likely the victim is to seek litigation if you do nothing. It doesn't look very good. Sorry to hear about it.

That's as pointless as killing your child for hitting someone.

If you are sure it can't be trained, just take it and drop it off somewhere. Then, it doesn't die. Thats what we did with one of our dogs.

Only reason I ever justify putting an animal down is because it has some sort of disease, is horribly injured, or is simply old and very senile.

I had to put down my Black Lab 3 years ago simply because she was getting very old and losing control of everything, don't think she even recognized me anymore.

But seriously, don't do it, my former dog, who was the nicest dog in toe world, bit a kid who stuck his finger through our fence (protecting me I guess, as I WAS pretty young at the time) and we simply had to take her to some obedience classes and she was fine.

So yeah, don't kill your dog.

Pretty much.

Its like cleaning your room and then having someone mess it up.
Its just that he made a mess he seemed to be proud of and your aunt ruined it. He was just upset.
Just train him not to bite.

@4everkool-
And you know that dog didn't die?
Once a dog has been domesticated for a home breed for a few generations, it loses a lot of natural instincts for the wild. Maybe not the city/suburban neighborhood, but I doubt it could survive in the wild.

Probably got picked up by the pound and put to sleep.

Also, this isn't reccomended because a dog thinks of it's owners as it's pack, and, when it is seperated from this pack, it either becomes depressed and dies, or tries to go back and find them, is caught by the dog catcher, and dies.

So either way, you killed your dog.

The dog would have been picked up as a stray and brought to a shelter, where it may have been adopted but more likely euthanized anyway.

I'm gonna go along with everyone else and say that unless the biting is the cause of some other disease, or if he's rabid, don't do it.

So, now we're killing dogs because they bite? What the ****, are we really that soft and lazy that we just get rid of the ones we don't like instead of putting in a little work to fix it?

Oh, humanity. You're so morbidly hilarious.
