Goomba - Project Soy

I'm just trying to work on spriting a bit. I plan on animating it later.

I'm going to go easy on ya.
The eyes look kinda squished as compared to the head, and the two pixels on the end of the head look kinda bad, maybe lengthen that part or get rid of it?

You didn't need to go easy on me. I could've taken the full blow.
In any case, I was trying to work on a chibi-esque style. Which apparently failed.

Thanks for the input. By squished eyes, do you mean they look flat?

He means the eyes are too close to the mouth.

the body looks too round like a SMWorld Goomba
the colors on the stub part look really odd
the eyebrows bug me, because it doesnt connect unlike other goombas
and the shoes look like straight lines

Now, the full blown thing.

The colors could use some more contrast, and personaly I don't like the shading. And you can barely notice the Goomba's trademark eyebrows. Plus you could have the same effect with two shades per color rather than four. And is there even a defined lightsourse? It seems like you pillowshaded the head and then added a bit of light near the bottom left corner. And the feet suggest that the lightsourse is the bottom left, and that the light isn't strong. With that in mind, try reshading the head and body, or in an easier case, reshade the feet.

Thanks, again. I was trying to go for a previous style I did, which I personally think looks really good. However, the goomba didn't quite come out right. I may have to redo it. With the feet, I was trying to make it appear like the bottom of the shoes were showing. That didn't work out exactly, I guess....

That looks a lot better! But the shape is a little odd on the left side.

If I change it, then someone might complain about it looking too round. :P

How do you know? Have you tried?

You COULD also fix it so that it DOESN'T look too round, as you assumed.

If I say stuff like that, assume it's 50% true.

Anyways, I fixed it a slight bit.

But still, the original style isn't ****, it just isn't in a style I really like :p.
Now then, the only flaw I can see is that I think the skin around the feet is a bit too wide. Try skinning up that goomba.

You mean the abdominal part of the body? Or the feet itself? I understood about half of what you said.

There you go. You managed to pull it off nicely.

The part around the feet, the body. It's wider than the head, which looks pretty odd to me.

I'm still confused a bit.

Is it the tannish part of the body?
Let's take a picture of a mushroom. The head is the little umbrella thing. The stalk is the tannish part that connects below the umbrella. Are you talking about the "stalk"? Aka, the body/stomach region?

If not, please circle the part for me, so I know what you're talking about.
