Personally, I actually like the fish in the middle of the top image better than the smaller one you're using now.
The shading on the small one's mouth looks a bit unusual to me (probably has to do with it mainly being on one side of the fish's lower jaw like that), and it's a bit hard to make out details on a 100% zoom (1x size). The regular version at the bottom of the second sheet looks like it's wall-eyed (though maybe that's intentional), and its pupils are difficult to see from 1x size. The yellow one, which I presume is the "glad" one, could probably be made to look more happy also; it doesn't seem to be smiling or anything there.
Are you trying to choose between the different "widths" of Cheep-cheeps in the second image? If so, I probably like the ones on the right more, except that you should probably change the eyes of the yellow one so that the "farther-away" one looks thinner, rather than the "closer" one.
Overall, I certainly don't think they're bad, but they could still use some improvement IMO.
