Road Rovers: The beat-em-up game?, A serious idea, please read.

There is this classic Warner Brothers 90s cartoon I used to enjoy, and thanks to youtube, I recently got back into it. That show was the Road Rovers, have you seen it? Do you remember it?

If not, I'll outline the plot. It was kind of like TMNT.

This geneticist named Shepard developed the blueprints for machine called the Transdogmafier, that could turn dogs into this new species called Cano-sapiens. Dog-men, basically. But it was stolen by the main villain of the series, General Parvo, and Shepard's lab was destroyed.
A year later, a couple of mutant dogs have been wreaking havoc, under control of Parvo. Shepard summons five specically selected dogs from different nations of the world, and he uses the machine on them. They emerge as the Road Rovers, the heroes of the show.



Hunter: A mixed breed from America, he is the leader of the group. His best asset is his super speed.

Colleen: A collie from the UK, she is best with hand-to-hand combat. She is agile and cunning.

Exile: A Siberian husky, he is strong and has super vision. He can even fire ice beams from his eyes.

Blitz: A doberman from Germany, he loves to bite people. He's a bit of a coward though.

Shag: A sheepdog from Switzerland, he carries many items in his copious fur, but he's always afraid.

Like the other shows by WB and their writers from that time period, the show was really damn fun. But unfortunately, the FCC killed it after one season. They passed a stupid law about programs having to have more education, and Road Rovers fell behind to make room for other shows. A lot of fans, including myself, really wish it could have gotten a little more milage; at least another season. They just have too much potential.

Well recently, it dawned on me that if they had more of a chance and became more popular, they could have gotten a SNES game as well.

Herein lies my question: Are there people out there who have good game-making skills, especially those who remember the Rovers, who wouldn't mind seeing if we could collab to create a SNES-looking Road Rovers beat-em-up game?

I mean, these guys pretty much fit the bill! They're a team of five superheroes, they each have their own merits and powers, and I could really see something like a 2-player SNES game working for them.

I actually have all the stats planned out too, based on a 5 star rating, who is better at what.

I didn't want to post this in the fangame forum, it isn't concrete enough to ask there yet. I hate to admit it, but as much as I would love to work on this, I just can't. I don't have nearly enough game making skill as everyone else here. If I tried, it would fail hard.

But I swear, if some of us could collab on this, the Rovers community would eat it all up. If you liked the show and have any input you can give, if you like the idea, or have something to say, by all means please post! I'm curious as to your opinion.

Never heard of it, but you sure make it sound like it'd work well!

Yep, it's an 80's show alright.

But in all honesy, this sounds like it would work rather well.

The sixth one was Muzzle, but he wouldn't really be good as playable character material. Maybe a special one-time weapon.

Also Delmore you're pretty much one of the few.

Though I personally didn't care for Histeria, and it was made in that same time period.
