A kind of salamander that never goes past it's larval stage and is often used by scientists for it's neotenic and regenerative properties.

Plus right now their only natural habitat is a single lake in the entire world

I should also say, axolotls CAN mature if artificially induced to do so, but their grown up forms have very short lives
