All right since I have had some free time from school work I have been working on this and wanted to show you my progress.

Features:

-A great working over-world Mario with awesome physics, good graphics, fully working ground-pounding and hammer with NO known glitches that has been tested a lot. Has sliding perfect slope walking and collision, Can NOT get it stuck; I have tried really really hard, and I have never gotten Mario stuck. Also has ground-pound effects and walking clouds like in TTYD. (Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.) He can ground-pound bricks or hammer them and He can smash the metal blocks with his hammer like the ones in TTYD. He can also get hurt when he falls in pits and appears outside near the pits and loses an HP. (Really Alpha-like. Will make better later.)

-An EXTREMELY basic HUD that displays everything you have. (Also very alpha-like considering its a blue bar and the coins and HP can go INSIDE the heart and the coin graphics, but hey it's only temporary.)

- Four save files with saving to each individual file and file deleting and the In-Game save blocks from TTYD.

- A decent looking title screen that's pretty neat.

- A tutorial level showing off all it's current features and explains how to use them.

- A text system with signs and avatars.

- Springs that Mario can jump on that have no glitches that I know of. You can't just walk into a spring and bounce.

-A basic item block containing a mushroom. (Currently just heals 1o HP when you touch it as there is no item system yet.)

-Open-able chests that I made an opening graphic for, includes a small one and a big one.

-A Goomba with basic random movement. (Very alpha.) It can move up slopes and everything and right now you can jump on it to go to a battle but it does not chase you. (Well it used to chase you but I removed for now.) The Goomba also has great physics and perfect collision checking.

-A stage that I made the ENTIRE background for except for the curtains from TTYD.

-The battle system is about 10% complete and has a really awesome system where you select between jump and hammer and stuff.

- Special exclamation blocks. There is currently one you can hit to make a bridge un-fold.

-Star pieces and coins to collect. (Star pieces unavailable in this alpha demo.)

-All around nice graphics with trees and grass and fences and stuff.

-Almost EVERYTHING has a sound and the game has some good music from PM. There is sounds for the hammer and ground-pounding as well.

That's basically it for now.

Screen-shots: (OLD. These ARE from the last version.)

'Tis fairly good. Good movement. My only complaint is he slides to much.

I like it. Nice job!
I agree with Mr. Bird though, Mario slides a little to much.

I fixed it long time ago. cool2.gif
I started on the overworld Goomba and it's going well. Then the battle system. Then a better pause screen like that in TTYD with yuor badegs and stuff.

Woah, that's pretty nice. The only thing that held me back is that I'm used to the jump key being shift (as in other games).

Yah I plan on letting the player choose there own controls when I make an option menu. Thanks for the feedback. My little over-world Goomba is working perfectly. he can go up and down slopes and has good physics to. The only thing left for him is to chase Mario when he sees Mario. ph34r.gif

I know the engine is not very polished yet but it's only been 3 days or working hard on this game. I hope to see you checking back for updates.

What's there is great.

Tiny bug that I scraped and scraped to find; you don't stop your ground pound when you fall in the water. As in, you will appear doing a ground pound at the "respawn" point.

In general. Excellent. Give more.

I am working on it. I managed to find some graphics for the spring and am going to find a sound for it. The little goomba I added now chases you when he sees you. Also I added some other stuff.

I like your engine. But:

- Way too static walking sprite (Only his feet are moving).
- Too slow hammer.

Mario would look less stiff but this was made with Anthiflo's build your own Paper Mario sheet and every time I try to add arms to the walk animations it looks wrong. All though I could make it a little better.

EDIT: I made it better. =P

Eh, I'm not really liking the Mario too much. The sprite is definitely too stiff, and he looks kinda lifeless.
I'd use sprites from Paper Mario if you want it to look really nice.

Engine's cool so far.

No. His head and body should bounce while he walks.
