Do you have any Questions about Game Maker 8 and the C++ Runner? Post em here! I will be sending Mark or Sandy an EMail in a few days to get the answers!

Q1: About how much longer will we have to wait for Game Maker 8?

Q2: About how many Glitches have you fixed so far?

Q3: Will there be an Option to choose whether Full Screen Mode is Blurred or Pixelated?

Q4: Will you implement the Ability to CHOOSE the Transparent Color?

Q5: Is it going to parse the GML and D&D to another Language and Compile it?

Q6: Will you fix the game_save and game_load so Saves are compatible with future versions of the game?

Q7: Will there be a GNU/Linux Version that uses OpenGL?

Q8: Will we be able to choose which functions/variables are actually in the EXE?

Q9: What do you think about the ENIGMA Project?

Q10: Do you think that instead of including the Interpreter INSIDE the Game's EXE, you could make it a DLL that people could stick in their System32 Folder so that all Game Maker Game could access it? DLLs ARE designed to be much faster than EXEs, and able to be accessed by Many EXEs before starting to Lag, after all.

Q11: Will we be able to not only copy INDIVIDUAL Resources, but GROUPS of Resources as well?

Q12: Will there be better Resource Management?

Q13: Will there be Better Texture Filtering Support(Bilinear, Trilinear, etc Scaling)?

Q14: Are you planning a Way to stop the GM Decompiler?

Q15: Will there be a Sound FX Equalizer?

Q16: Could there be an Addition of Animated Backgrounds so we don't have to script the Animation?

Q17: Will there be an Internal Sound Editor?

More? Ask here!

Can you load a save from an older version of a game without problems using the default Save/Load actions?

Will it run on GNU/Linux?

Will it use OpenGL instead of DirectX?

Will there be an option to exclude specific functions or built-in variables from the exe and gameplay, so you'd not have a brazillion variables wasting speed/functions wasting space when you don't even need them?

Ok. Now to reply to the Individuals...

@Outrage: Great Idea, but he I think he said it's staying the same.

@SuperMarioMaster: ENIGMA is already doing this, but only YoYo can do it correctly. Great Idea!

@Razz: See Q3.

@NICKtendo DS: This has annoyed me throughout the time I have used Game Maker. It currently saves ALL of the Resource Data. All 9 Resources... THATS LIKE GIVING OUT YOUR SOURCE! >=^O

@Hohoo: Very good Idea. Would allow Multi-Platform Games.

@SuperCapeMario: See Outrage's Question.

@Guinea: This would be an Awesome Addition.

What's bad about giving the source? Linux got good just because thousands of developers around the world developed the source.

uh actually that won't happen since GM is build around alot of the Windows interface and making it multiplatform would require them to completely redo everything

And DirectX is better than OpenGL anyways

You can anti-alias your sprites on your own, then use alpha masks.

yeah I'm generally against closed source, but hey, if you actually check the two out you'll notice and feel that DirectX had like thousand professionals work on it, while OpenGL had like 100 who did it in their spare time.

Hobbyists or professional, what's the difference? DirectX is actually a bunch of techniques while OpenGL is only graphics. SDL could be used as an alternative to the other parts of DirectX and it can be used with OpenGL.

And because OpenGL and SDL are cross-platform and free, they are much better!

If you were a graphician, musician and all that but you were allowed to work only for somebody, would it be good or bad?

That the professionals are high educated people who spend their entire day working on it with huge money at stake, and the hobbists are spending like an hour on it and are doing it out of interest.

I still love open source though
