Shyguy war screen saver., Now with anti guy army.

Watch General Guy cheer on his men, while the blue enemy attacks his castle. once an enemy invades a castle the flag will be changed and the game will restart a few moments after. I used simple image alpha, color blending, and and a shrinking animation for the dust and explosion effects.

Comments please.

hm, it's not bad, but I don't think it really serves a purpose as a screensaver, since the low half of it stays the same all the time and the top half also doesn't change. (Only when bombs fall down)
I like the music though. ^-^

What do you mean by change?

The point of screen savers is that they're supposed to keep the screen active when you're off the computer, because if a screen "pixel" if you will, stays the same for too long it'll freeze. Note the name screen saver.
And your screen saver doesn't save the lower or upper half of the screen very well.

The music Bugged me but i really like it
and i also think the blue team needs a general as well

Done and done. Oh and now the blue shyguys are relplace with anti-guys.

... And what would even be going on down there? Mice playing cards or what?

Think of something, otherwise this fails as a screen saver.
EDIT: How about some shy guys try digging tunnels to undermine the enemy castle?

At what point did I say I was a brilliant screen saver maker? Just because someone can't make a James Bond film doesn't mean they can't critique it.

Either way, something has to go on at the bottom of the screen. If you have to, move everything down so that the castles are at the bottom and have more stuff such as fly guys in the sky.

Saying something I made fails is just silly if you can't do any better.

Fly guys would be more simple, but the compo ends today so I won't have any time to add them.

This really doesn't qualify as a screensaver anyway because it must be manually opened, and it's a gamemaker file. Plus, not everything moves.

Although, it's still fun to watch and see who wins, so I did in fact like it! Maybe you should classify this as a "Interactive Video", or something to that nature (Even though it's not interactive; Having trouble thinking of the right word.)

No it's not.

There is a Definition of a screensaver (inlcluding stopping pixels from staying the same all the time). And if your program doesn't match this Definition, it fails as a screensaver. That doesn't mean that it fails completely, but it does fail as a screensaver.

Additionally, you don't need to be a Screensaver-Pro to tell that a few points aren't met. I guess you could also tell that a house has broken down, even though you can't build one yourself.

So either you go and try to fullfil the qualities that make a screensaver, or you rename it to a "real-time video" or something.

Well when one teams wins you could make an explosion effect that covers the whole screen or something like that (like the bobomb explosion but big enough to cover the whole screen)... well atleast that'd make it a screensaver. Well actually that wouldn't help for me though since I have a widescreen there's black space on both sides.
