Sprite Competiton #146:Buddy Power Ups, Boom Babah

I find it unbelievably stupid to disallow the use of previous work. Edits from ripped sprites obviously aren't allowed, but I do not see what's so wrong about re-using your own art.

So, this masterpiece I have been working on for a year that happens to be what the comp is about if I make a minor adjustment should have the same rights as something someone else had to make in the one week time limit?

The point is to test ones abilities to make something on the spot in a short amount of time. If someone can't do that then they can't enter.

Listen, the rules are no edits.
I can't make it any clearer. Now get over it.
If it isn't custom made after the time of the first post, then it is not going to be qualified.

@deaddude Your rainbow star/cheep cheep look like edits & you edited my custom boos. You also used my boo mushroom. I believe a disqualification is in order.

Yes, yes it should.

Those are some pretty ****ty rules! You could just enter a spritesheet that you've secretly been working on before the competition and never tell anyone.

That's nice, but in reality resources can be re-used to one's benefit.

Example: Nintendo enhancing the N64 Pokemon Stadium models and using them in PBR.

That reminds me of the usused enemy (a blooper on land with red shoes) that was going to be in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time.

I don't believe in editing anything when the rules specificly say "No Edits" No one seems to believe me though so I guess Im gonna have to drop out of this one and wait for the next one.
I do hope people believe me in the future...

The no edits rule has been in these comps for a while, and it works. You don't like it, you join, win, and make the next competition allow edits.





Just be sure you didn't edit anything in your entry.

Mmm.. I got new computer today, i can start today.

I hate animating tentacles so I'm done.

I don't think it's even permitted for a comp creator to say edits are allowed. Allowing edits screws up the workings of competitions just in general.

There is a few small problems with the Squid thing you've sprited.
1. The left tentacle is far more floppy then the right tenticle.
2. The left leg is a lot longer then the leg placed on the right side.
3. The left knee bends and animates while the right doesn't, making it seem out of order.
4. Aside from these small problems, it's great a great sprite!

1. The right one is facing you more.
2. As with 1, it's facing you so you don't see as much.
3. It does bend. Look in the body where there's a break in the shading.

Also, I had to do all this on a different computer that I don't really care for so I couldn't really focus that much.
