I don't think Ashura has to listen to you. You're asking him to derive from a style he enjoys to draw to something he may not want to draw at all. Artists DO NOT have to do as you command. Go ahead and give your opinion, but apparently your opinion that cartoony artwork is **** compared to realistic works isn't wanted and doesn't have to be followed.

Art is a form of expression and you can't jump down somebody's throat for refusing to appeal to your interests.

Art is most fun for me because I can draw what I want, it doesn't really have to make sense, and I can really use my imagination. The limits of reality do not apply. And I wouldn't listen to you if you demanded I change my style or anything ridiculous like that either.

I have a question.

Do you just draw in blue coloring pencil, or do you use a special kind of pencil? Because I've been looking like crazy for those special blue pencils but I have no idea what they're called.

My sketches are black and white, I add the bluish color to them using photoshop. =p

Never said any of that thanks for putting words in my mouth. I said he should practice or research some realism to improve his current style, which has some flaws in it that can be fixed.

I wasn't jumping down anyone's throats; I was giving advice.

I didn't ask him to change his style. I said understanding, not necessarily drawing realism, would help improve some of the inconsistencies and flaws in her work.

Good job not reading and all.

You seem to be missing the point. He is trying to learn realism so that his less-then-realistic drawings can be better.

You know what I hate even more than skinny, bug-eyed, out of proportion drawings?

Drawings that look like tracings of photographs. Don't EVER draw like that.

I did read, and I didn't think it was necessary to rant, rant, and rant about it like you did. Talking down to him just as you seem to do often to anyone you're talking to. Like that there.

Can you take a photo of your picture or something so we can see it, Ashura?

Sorry for combating and taking down all your points? I thought debasing people's assertions before asserting your own more valid ideas was how logical discussion worked? Just ignoring what you said completely and blatantly stating my opinion without first proving why I was right seems a little... egotistical and overly-confident.

Sorry for trying to give evidence and not just baselessly asserting my opinion? Next time I'll just inject my opinions with absolutely no justification or reason -- seems like a brilliant notion, indeed.

Also you still did put words in my mouth. I don't take to kindly to that.

Oh. Well damn. I know there are special design pencils that draw in blue but are erasable and don't show up in photocopies or scans.

It seems like no one can get their head around this incredibly simple notion. And I just don't see why not.

It's a really simple rule

Before you form your own style, learn the basics to branch from

Forming your own style before getting a decent handle on the basics is like trying to take calculus after taking 3rd grade math

You put words in my mouth. This implies you either read what I wrote, and were just flat-out being malicious (i.e. insulting) to me by intentionally misinterpreting what I said , or else you literally didn't read my posts and were judging what I said based off of snips of conversation, in which case my sarcastic remark "Good job reading and all" seems fairly warranted, seeing as you didn't read.

So either you're being hypocritical or accusing me of something that was totally warranted due to your neglect.

I'm sure, however, you can enlighten me on what the real case is -- do you feel cornered because I pointed out you didn't read, or are you just refusing to admit you're being a tad hypocritical in your malicious reinterpretation of my earlier statements?

You have blown this so far out of proportion, I didn't intend to put words in your mouth at all. If I had malicious intentions I would have said something far worse.

I interpreted it the wrong way because of the way you were talking down to Ashura and the way you are talking down to me now.

I was just displeased that you put words in my mouth. If you hadn't intended to, why didn't you read the conversation instead of jumping the gun and making assumptions that I was attacking Ashura. Ashura's sometimes a tad stubborn when it comes to accepting simple facts about art. If anything, it was a heated discussion leading to a conclusion about a fact -- not even my opinion -- not a "beat-down."

And I'm not talking down to you. I'm pointing out what's wrong in your posts. If I was talking down to you, I'd use more condescending words and strategies.
