I think Medaf is right.
Seeing as he's an up-and-coming art major an all, one might think he has some authority on the topic. Also, as a second opinion here, I'm going to have to agree... your anatomy is very... lackluster, to say the least. And it's not "style" because you have no consistency to your proportions or anatomy; you very clearly just sort of fudge your way through your art after drawing a cute face and pretty hair.
Which is okay if you don't actually plan to professionally go anywhere or do anything with your art, but... it makes you a rather narrow artist. And people like Medaf (and other folks) are going to see that, and seeing as you post your art in an open forum for C&C -- they're going to comment too. Despite what you always say, I think you could do to learn a little from realism... |
maybe he's happy with his current skills and drawings, and maybe that he doesn't want to progress because he has progressed and refined his art to the point where he himself and others find it perfectly satisfactory? Ever thought of that?

If that was the case, he wouldn't constantly ask people "Is this good?" and other such things, Elly. That's an obvious one.
That person clearly understands proportions, and also how to distort them properly to look appeasing to the eye. Chances are, however, he learned some form of realism first, before he went about drawing that crazy style of his.

Selective listening is the best way to perpetuate delusion, indeed.
| QUOTE | Ah, just be quiet. Ashura is a good artist and you know it. Not to be mean to you but, many people and I see nothing wrong with his art. I think it's godly he can draw so good. I still see nothing wrong with it at all.
BTW, there's something called "Artistic License." |
In the world, there'll always be more and less critical people. People who can spot flaws because they are educated on a certain topic, and those who can't because they have specialized in something else. You are one of the latter.
True, but such "artistic license" doesn't get you recognized on a professional or any other sort of notable level. "Artistic license" is deliberately holding back on one's ability for an artistic purpose, but not an excuse for lack of ability.

| QUOTE (Big Boo Fan @ Oct 21 2008, 02:42 PM) | | I really don't think that Mrs. Aforcer is saying that Ashura is a bad artist. On the contrary I'm pretty sure that she amd most of us agree that Ashura is rather talented. It's just disappointing when a good artist like Ashura refuses to improve. |
Finally someone understands! Jesus!
I have never once said Ashura's art sucks. I point out ways to improve in the future and recommend methods to get better, but I never straight-out say "This art sucks and you'll never get anywhere ever;" mostly because I don't believe that's true. Ashura has an abundance of potential, I just don't feel he's putting it to full use by narrowing himself to such a small range of subjects.
