By the way, Ashura. You've probably had some kind of childhood experience that makes you flinch at criticism (I've been through that too), but keep doing what

QUOTE (Ashura @ Oct 21 2008, 07:08 PM)
...  sad.gif

I know that you are sick of me going "WAAAH WHY DO PEOPLE CRITICIZE ME" every time I post in the CCC, and I realize that what I have done wrong. I do not ask for praise to show that I am "better" than others here. I do it so I can boost my self-confidence... I am usually busy in college, and the studying wears down my energy; I really just want praise so I can feel happy I go home. I am sorry.. will not ask for praise/go nuts when someone criticizes me again... I need to find another way to boost my self-confidence...

Well if you know you've done wrong, the next step is to fix it, no? Also, on the topic of college, well...

Welcome to reality. You don't think college is equally difficult (if not harder) for the rest of us? Studying wears down everyone's energy, even if they're not in college, and... who doesn't want praise? We all do, but you can't expect to get pure and undivided praise from any particular source. There will always be a percentage of people that criticize you. Take what you get -- the rest of us do that, and I guess I just fail to see why we have to make an exception for you.

I'd appreciate if you do as you say. I have nothing wrong with debating criticism (i.e. "That hand is backwards." "No, that's the left hand, not the right hand; you just can't tell from this frame." "Oh, okay."), but if your only defense against constructive criticism is, "Waaahh, stop being mean!" that's just not going to cut it.

Especially from someone of your age.

Life is hard, and we're all struggling to make ends meet. I think it's rude when you act like you're the only one that goes to college and works hard. It's very inconsiderate.

Apology accepted though. I hope your next art post won't be so controversial.

Ashura is seriously one of my favorite artists on MFGG. His cartoony style is very appealing and unique. Every time he posts something in the Arts Board, I immediately loot at the piece of work and comment on it.

I feel that he can improve by practicing realism and getting proportions a little better with the anatomy.

This.

Seriously, Ashura, don't fret. Not everyone will be a fan of your art but be thankful a majority of us here at MFGG love your stuff! Keep on keeping on!

I'm your #1 fan!

Dude, If you really want a- just moral booster, keep doing what you're doing; just remember to take into the account each critisizm given to you. Use those to draw even better, and keep improving. Impressing your fans is always good for a quick smile but when you impress your critics THAT is the ultimate morale booster.

Ugh... as much as I say "lol realism sux i never lrnd from it", I made myself look like an idiot... I honestly never tried realism apart from my 6th and 10th grade art class (which were pretty much requirements to graduate). I just have this instinct that tells me that artists who draw realism are elitists. My 6th grade art teacher used to throw away my sketches that I doodled in class involving my video game ideas because they were not "realism". She used to tell me that I MUST MUST MUST draw realism and not cartoons or else I will fail in her course. She used to say that cartoonists can barely pay their bills because they get very little money so it's better to draw realism. She also tried to suspend me for "singing and dancing" when I used to be very silent in her class.. she was really mean. I have to get over that since not all pro realism artists are like that...

ugh, now I sound like I want to get praise >< just shoot me already

Ashura, I think the best way to kick off turning over a new leaf like this is too remove that mocking quote from your signature, I don't know.

I mean, if you wanna play flame wars, I'm probably not the person you want to play with.

Now you know who to blame! But really, WTF?? I am GLAD my Studio Art teacher actually tries to help me do BETTER with my OC sketches.

Why is it that people who draw the best stuff are always kicking themselves thinking no one likes it? Others (me included) would commit an unthinkable crime just to have skills like those people!
