For the MGC with the theme of loneliness. Weather it's physical or psychological loneliness is left up to your imagination. I'm not even sure the download works atm, but hey! If not I'll reupload and try again. The arrow keys are all you'll need.
And yes, MTB was a large inspiration, but please don't expect it to live up to MTB's reputation! biggrin.gif

I really like this, and I think you captured the loneliness very well. It was the small things that did it really, like the echo after the jump, or the wind as you were falling. Very neat graphics, and the ending was nice. I would have loved to see some more though.

oh god this is amazing I love it

I love the puzzles, especially the second one. It needs a bit better collision testing in that one, but still amazing. The ending is fabulous.

Welp, I fixed the collisions in that one area Mechabowser mentioned.

AND added some extra rooms for length.

For me it runs really slowly, there are too many long falling scenes, I never reached any decent puzzles except a platforming sequence in which I had to make many leaps of faith and if I fell off, it took ages to go back.

Plus it looks like you edited my sig dancers to make your mario sprite.

There aren't many leaps of faith, just a couple. If you look really hard you can barely make out the next glass block (save one place). In fact that was the idea of the vanishing blocks; to make the player THINK it's a dead end or a leap of faith.

But really, this isn't supposed to be a platforming adventure or a puzzle-ridden romp through space. It's supposed to embody the theme of the MGC and provide the player with a lonely feeling.

And the graphics were created long before the sig dancers appeared. :\

Okay, but it's still really slow and has 2 minute long fall scenes.

EDIT: and there are green squares around all the tiles

Now everything should be fixed.

@ Thingy - you must have a weird computer. If possible, try it somewhere else?

I really love it! I'm currently after the first set of falling blocks (don't wanna spoil the place, it was a nice surprise). The mind-blowing thing is, i was walking and thought "I doubt this will happen, but the atmosphere is nice and it feels like i should worry about those blocks suddenly falling off". And the next second they DO start falling off! It was incredible nod.gif I'll continue playing now.

Edit: finished it, loved every second even though it's so simple. Even thogh i often claim to be an overly-imaginative person, it's times like this when i start doubting it.

The thing I really wanted was something so abstract that there is no concrete way of explaining why things are happening. I also wanted it vague enough that the player would use his/her imagination to try and make sense of what's going on but still have nothing feasible to wrap their minds around. Force the player to think. Even I don't have a solid idea what's happening (just a vague concept). With that said you could really get some weird things out of this game if you replayed it and tried to make sense of it all.

I'm very happy you (and the rest of you) enjoyed it! :]

Thanks, all!
