Sprite Competition's over, Move to Archives

Wouldn't making all of the extra white space just all pink have been better?

I think this is an interesting competition, and I really didn't expect much competition when I first entered. But now like, 15 people have joined and my tiles are being put up against some really great sets.

Take this as a challenge to improve yourself.

I'm going to waste too much time just looking at some of them.

AAAAAWWWW!!! BUT THEN US NOOBS WILL HAVE TO DO "WORK"!

In doing so, it'll just cause a bunch of complaints from people who don't actually want to put together 4 different parts to make one thing. It's convienient for the creator. Not too hot for the customers. :P

Actually it's easier for the noobs because they don't have to sift through rows upon rows of different corners and T-junctions et cetera, they can just put it together how they want it.

Ah yes but it's the customers who want a good looking game. In not doing work they sacrifice that. I had actually planned on giving that tileset a purposely bad palette so that it would HAVE to be changed.

In the majority of cases 16x16 works better than 8x8. 8x8 was useful when I made that Sonic tileset a few months back, but 16x16's usually the way to go for Mario. Mind you, 8x8 is a lot more useful to ROM hackers.

That would have been a bad idea since the noobs then wouldn't recolour it and we'd have a ton of clones with bad pallettes.

Also I can never get a good pallette going, and nor can a lot of people.

Little update.

Lovely. Looks very official.

mushroom, lesf, star and note block look traced.
Otherwise nicely done.

Along with the nice detail work, the pallette is vivid and blends together nicely.

This ends next monday? Thats quite a while away if you ask me.

A single week for a sprite competition (even if it is a tileset one) is usually the date. This one is two weeks long. Personally, I think it's much easier to create a tileset, but meh. If everyone else doesn't mind. I honestly thought it was going to end a few days ago.
