Both games were excellent, but I prefer OoT over MM.

Ocarina of Time had some well-designed dungeons and bosses, along with a large overworld with diverse terrains. The gameplay was so much more traditional to the series than Majora's Mask, and the time-traveling gameplay element was more appealing than the masks.

Majora's mask was a great sandbox game, it was just a ton of fun to run around and do stuff. That being said, I wasn't to fond of it's story. OoT's story struck me as more zelda-like. Then again, I loved MM's atmosphere, and it's dungeon design.

I think what I love so much about OoT is how it never seems to get boring, no matter how many times I play it. I dunno, it's weird. I guess you could say it's timeless, in a way.

However, I will say that Majora's Mask has a ton of fun side-quests and offers much more freedom while playing. The characters in Clock Town and elsewhere have a much more developed background than the NPCs in OoT. The atmosphere is also much darker and more emotional, which I prefer to have in a Zelda game.

This is why MM shouldn't have even been a Zelda game

It's also what makes it so great, it's nothing like any of the other Zeldas

Majora's Mask, story seemed more in dpeth than your typical "Go save the princess" style stuff. Plus, I loved being able to transform.

It looks like lots of the Ocarina of Time people who voted were too scared to post their reasons. WE MUST KNOW!!

I voted Majora's Mask because of the mask transformations, the 3 day thing and the game's general atmosphere.

The game was fun the second you got that Deku Mask locked on your face, all the way until you were beating on Majora with Fierce Deity's double helix. Goron mask still makes me grin, just rolling around the field without a care in the world.

The moon was a really cool gamelay element and story telling device. You always had that sense of impending doom, and you had to know what you were doing, you only had about an hour to do it.

The game was such a departure from normal Zelda games, indeed from the game's I've normally played. And yet, it still captivated me. It was like Zelda: Twilight Zone, things seemed similar, but there was always a little quirk to keep you interested.

I'll admit, it had it's bad points. It had a short main quest, instead relying on it's sidequests to occupy your time. Some things could have been improved, little quirks here and there that stop it from being perfect.

Ocarina of Time was just a little boring to me. The whole 7 year gap didn't interest me as much as the different mask powers, and the plot didn't captivate me as much as Majora's Mask's did. The game and it's sidequests also got a little boring at times, compared to the always changing gameplay Majora's Mask offered.

I hated Majora's Mask because I could never get past the first mission. Then again, I haven't played the game in years, so I should probably try it again sometime.

That's a pretty hard to answer question, since both games were fantastic.

OoT is that typical Zelda adventure with tons of dungeons and a few sidequests, and is, from what I remember, significantly longer than MM.
But MM has an incredibly complex storyline that's far more intense than OoT's, and it isn't afraid to get creepy at times. Plus, instead of the sidequests being, well... "side" quests, they're one of the most important parts of the game.

I'd have to prefer MM, just because story is one of my favorite parts of anything, and the story in MM is really amazing. But OoT is great as well, and I don't think that MM is loads better.

I voted OoT because I liked the freedom of that game. I mean, MM is "sealed" in those three days which is of course enough time, but I prefer OoT more. Both of them are really great games though.

Both games were amazing.

The dungeons in OOT were insanely fun, and there were at least 8 of them (9, counting Ganon's castle), while MM only had 4. OOT also had a really great story, and the bosses were awesome.

But the parts between dungeons in MM were way more fun than OOT's. The characters had a lot more personality, and the fact that you could keep going back in time and checking out every little aspect of the 3 days and notice all the subtle details was really fun and immersive. Not to mention, of the 4 dungeons it had, all of MM's dungeons were pretty fun too. The fairy finding was a little bit tedious though.

But to me, MM reigns supreme, only because it was the one I played most as a kid. With OOT, I mostly just watched my brother play it, and when I ended up playing it, I already knew everything that would happen, so the experience was a little bit killed for me. But my brother was never into MM, so that was a totally fresh experience.
