GOING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF THAT OTHER TOPIC TOOT TOOOOOOOOOT

Seemed like a good idea to get a music discussion topic going for bands that people actually like

Long playlist with short descriptions get:

All That Remains - One of the few metalcore bands that are actually good
Arch Enemy - death metal with a female vocalist. and it doesnt suck woah
As I Lay Dying - metalcore etc, still moving out of this genre so I still have a few bands sticking around. These guys are actually pretty good though, so !!!
At The Drive-In - Infinitely superior to The Mars Volta and if you disagree I hate you forever (not really)
Between the Buried and Me - Listen to Colors right now. DO IT.
The Black Dahlia Murder - awesome Melodeath band.
Dethklok - For being a joke band, these guys are actually a really good melodeath group
Disarmonia Mundi - Melodeath etc. Speed from Soilwork does vocals, so it's automatically good
Divine Heresy - Not one of my favorites, but the guitar managed to keep it on my playlist for this long
The Fall of Troy - If you know any of their songs other than F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X.(because it's complete ****) then you know how awesome they are
Fear Before The March of Flames - Their newer experimental stuff (The Always Open Mouth, and *kind of* the new self titled) is just awesome
Fear Factory - Pretty great Industrial Metal band
Haste The Day - again, the remains of the metalcore groups I had in here
I Set My Friends On Fire - the fact that they don't take this seriously is keeping it on here.
In Flames - The stuff they made before selling out and turning into emo garbage was amazing. (And by this I mean Clayman and The Jester Race)
Into Eternity - Just found out about them wheeeee
Mercenary - Just got into them so I can't give a great description
Mnemic - Awesome progressive industrial metal band
Omnium Gatherum - melodeath wheeeeeee
The Number Twelve Looks Like You - Pretty chaotic mathcore sound. Their older stuff has a lot more personality than the new album though tbh
Parkway Drive - Killing With A Smile is easily the greatest metalcore album ever
Protest The Hero - Progressive metal wheeee
Scar Symmetry - Amazing melodeath band
Soilwork - Speed does amazing vocalwork both here and Disarmonia Mundi

and now we all make fun of my **** taste in music and/or discuss other good bands that you like

edit: tl;dr discuss everything music related here

Music discussion would be a cool board, but that won't happen, so a topic's cool too.

So... Do we just do what you did in the first post, or just discuss music in any way possible?

Anyone like "classical" music? (Orchestral music, band music, anything of that sort, etc. etc. etc.)

I love the works of John Coolidge Adams and Philip Glass (his new stuff, but also the older Philip Glass Ensemble works)

a'thang?

Sick stuff!

I have a pocket score for "The Rite of Spring" and I love studying it. So much great stuff there.

Everyone has to love "The Planets", too! I also love Holst's "Moorside Suite".

I like music Bach wrote. He broke nearly all of the rules but he know how to make good music anyways, he know the rules probably, and how to break them and follow properly

I'm also a big fan of Hadyn's surprise symphony

Basically because it starts out really silent then in the middle of the song everything suddenly gets extremely loud haha

My music appreciation teacher played the song without telling us what it did halfway through, scared the girls half to death it was pretty funny
