TL;DR version: ''The game is great but I don't like the difficulty in the later levels, so this gets a 5 from me.''

Discuss.

That's not an accurate tl;dr version.

He mentioned numerous things he considered wrong with the game, and it's not just difficulty of levels that he complains of, but poor design that tends to require trial and error.

Wait, he said the game wasn't broken. The camera was fine, and the controls too. The Werehog and Sonic stages were fun and worked right but it got harder as it went on, like it's supposed to... so why did he give it a 5/10 again?

then you should have noticed the part where he says that the game required little input on sonic levels, it is very frustrating since you need to memorize levels and are on a life system, the checkpoints are poorly placed, the level advancement requires medals that are hidden well in previous levels and hub worlds, etc.

Probably some guy who assumed this game would fail like Sonic 2006, but doesn't have the balls to admit he was wrong.

The only significantly bad thing i see about this is not being able to save during Werehog sequences.

Other than that, it seems pretty promising

okay if you want to do it this way

1. we aren't talking about sonic rush or anyone's opinions other than this reviewer's opinions
2.
QUOTE
That's not to say there isn't any kind of interaction, of course. There are parts of the levels that do show a glimpse of that old Sonic magic: making the perfect jump, hitting those bumper-jump pads that make that oh so satisfying noise. But then, he's off again, blasting on-rails through the level, occasionally smacking into an enemy or a pit of spikes that makes the rings you've been collecting on the way scatter around him. Worse still, you could find yourself plummeting into a pit. There is some satisfaction to be had learning each course, plotting your perfect route and honing your reactions to hit the jump at just the right time, or use the sensibly integrated sidestep, mapped to the shoulder buttons, to avoid that aforementioned pit. Unfortunately, the frustration felt on those first run-throughs can be too much to bear, particularly as you progress into tougher stages, where there is far too much trial and error for comfort. For Sonic Team, striking that balance between incredible speed and control remains as elusive as ever.
QUOTE
Seemingly never a game to miss the opportunity to kick you while you're down, Unleashed also features an old-school life system. It means if you die too many times while reaching a particularly tough but at the end of a level, you'll find yourself booted back out into the hub world. Now you have to start the stage from scratch. Considering the werehog levels tend to last around half an hour (in which you can't save, incidentally) it's not long before your controller is crumbling to dust beneath your fingertips.

3. it isn't considered replay value until you are replaying the game
QUOTE
This wouldn't be so bad, but to then enter the stage you need to have collected enough of the sun and moon medals that are scattered across the game. Meaning that, should you wish to progress in the story and find yourself lacking in collectibles, you must redo previous levels or wander around the hub worlds, poking your nose into every corner or smashing crate after crate, hoping that they contain one of these medals.

Collectibles like these are a fun way to appeal to completionists but they should be an optional extra. Sure, give us a nice bonus for finding them; but to inextricably tie them to the main game's progress is a baffling decision. There's little more frustrating than finding your way to an action stage portal, only to discover that you haven't picked up enough spinning collectibles. Frankly, it's enough to drive you to the off-switch.

I like how all the reviews say 'The Sonic Stages are fun, but because the Wolf stages aren't quite as fun it sucks!' and 'It's a greta game, that will make Sonic fans go nuts, but it sucks'
I'm getting it and making up my mind on my own... anyone here actually own it? I thought not.
Reviews are just a persons opinion, I like that you have to collect little widgets to get to the new stages for example.

1. The IGN review for the Wii version is pretty short. Did they even try? And plus, their only argument is that the Werehog is slower than Sonic and that they didn't like nighttime stages as much as in the DAY. WHAT?

Ugh, come on. What a terrible review. And then they go on to complain that the levels were too easy and you breeze through them, while others say they're too hard? I mena I'll agree that the medals thing is a gimmick to get you to play possibly easy levels, but the reviews conflict so much.
