That said, I have no mental disorders. I may be shy, but I am perfectly capable of interacting and empathizing with humans as well as animals.

Isn't it horrible?

And people just don't understand it when you try to explain it to them.

jesus christ

none of you people have asperger syndrome

just because you are socially retarded does not mean you have asperger syndrome

guess what, i was completely socially awkward for much of my life, then i learned to not be such an idiot and suddenly bam; it was like i didn't have asperger at all!

classic example of self diagnosed asperger; guess what, i had a hard time making friends (hell, even saying hi to new people was hard), and i'm one of the 'smartest kids in school'

that means that you are the stereotypical geek, you're smart, good at tech n' ****, and you suck at talking to people

man up, get some confidence, and suddenly you'll discover that hey it wasn't aspergers after all, it was the fact that i have no idea how to act in social environments

and i will not acknowledge that you 'have asperger syndrome' unless you have been formally diagnosed by the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised and the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule

aspergers!=brilliance, btw. From what I've read, a characteristic symptom of aspergers is an intense interest in a topic, so knowledge about that topic could easily be misinterperated as "brilliance." Besides, there isn't a proven correlation between intelligence and aspergers; an individual's mental acuity is probably genetic. In fact, I doubt that most of you who've stated that you have aspergers actually have aspergers. It is grossly overdiagnosed; discerning whether a person has the disorder isn't easy. Most of the signs could just be personality traits.
I'm sorry if I offended anyone here, but this is my stance.

Actually, I never would have known what Aspergers or Autism is if I hadn't been diagnosed by an EXCELLENT Psychiatrist at the age of 8.

I agree with Thompson; if you weren't diagnosed by a reputable psychiatrist, you probably don't have Aspergers/ADHD.

None of those.
I do know some people who have them in real life, and they're all pretty much idiots. Could be a coincidence, though, as all the people with any of these online are pretty cool.

Same here.
Though the few people I do know with ADD seem to have a really bad case of it, not to mention some overprotective parents.

Anyways, I have neither.

For the longest time I thought my mom said I was diagnosed with Aspbergers in the 1st grade. Turns out I must have got the message mixed up somewhere because recently mom corrected me and said I was actually diagnosed with High Functioning Autism. It was awkward to have been corrected on this after being misinformed on it for so long to say the least.

Last time I checked, Aspergers causes social disabilities; if you don't have social issues, you probably don't have Aspergers.

except that y'know, the biggest 'symptom' of asperger syndrome is social disability; hence why so many awkward shy people think they have aspergers
