Uh, yeah, it's Vivian from Paper Mario: The Thousand-year Door. C&C is always nice.

The added neck gives it a rather weird appearance, but nice job, otherwise!

Cool style, but with a neck it does look pretty different.

Yeah, the neck. Also I think you could make her "leg" a bit thinner, and round a bit more her belly. Also, the rest of her hair is missing..

Other than that, it looks nice.

Does 100% accuracy to the real thing truly matter?

The accuracy doesn't matter to the drawing itself, but it matters to the...uh, accuracy. Something I'd like to ask is if her hands is good? 'Cause hands are really hard to draw properly.

It bugs me whenever that's all people want to criticize about. It's like saying "Mario's not allowed to be on human-scale anatomy! He must forever remain short and fat!" If you want something that's 100% accurate, you may as well trace over a picture of Vivian.

The hands were kinda weird, but I ignored that fact. The only real problem I have is the left hand (our right). It appears to only be be able to bend from the knuckle (and it reality, it can bend twice pass from the knuckle). I personally think it would appear better if, on the middle/ring and pinky finger, you only have the middle section of the finger showing, because this has a much more natural feel to the hand jesture she is using. Her thumb should also go over the two sections.

That's just my suggestion on fixing the hands to make them at least appear a bit more natural. Hands can be difficult to draw. You just need to find a technique that works for you.

In other words, you're saying that every Vivian that is drawn from the original must be exactly the same as the true Vivian and accuracy is much more important that the style of the artist? Is she forever trapped as a purple shadow-like girl with a rather plump stomach, and exceedingly long, extendable leg, 5 fingers, etc. etc.?

No, but it should be close enough so it actually looks like her

So does it look like her, or does it look like something else? I think Vivian only really needs her big pink & white hat, the swirl of hair, and the lightspot on the cheeks to keep her distinguishable from other characters.

So you're the only thing that needs to be the same when drawing Vivian is the head?

Sure, you can tell this is Vivian, but the proportions make no sense to the character.
And yes, proportions are important. Maybe if Alex was trying to make "short/baby Vivian," it would be ok, but this is supposed to be the Vivian from TTYD, not that.
