Storybook type of thing should be enough, as long as it's a cutscene. He didn't specifically mention what kind of cutscene it has to be.

Yeah, any kind of cutscene will work. Just be aware that it adds to the overall effect.

1. Probably. He didn't specifically mention it should be christmas only.

1) No, it can just be winter themed.

2) Yes. Being forced to open one application for the cutscene, then another for the game is annoying.

there IS a really cool dll that connects to youtube, and you can have your cutscenes/any video appear in game maker, but its really playing the youtube vid...

I'm half tempted to make a Christmas-y Doom wad that consists of you killing an imp after a long cutscene dispite that not able to count as an actual entree due to using the DOOM engine, as well as sprites and sounds and such.
