Life changing experiences / things?

Ever had anything dramtically life changing hit you? Doesn't have to be an event. Could even be just getting a new laptop or something.

Getting a second chance and getting accepted to University was one for me

I would say divorce but it wan't that big for me.

I did however get in a bad car wreck this year. I haven't really evaluated how much it's changed, but I won't have full extension of my left arm ever again. :x

When I first joined an internet social site (not mentioning any names), I thought it was amazing. Over time, however, the community grew harsher and harsher, and I saw people say explicit stuff with impunity that I would be terrified to say anywhere. Eventually, I became incredibly annoyed, made this obvious to the community and discovered two types of user: those who also believed something was wrong, and those who thought I was being an arrogant goody-two-shoes. Over the next few weeks, I became more thick-skinned and, shortly afterwards, I left the site for good.
God only knows how I would have turned out if I didn't develop the ability to shrug off verbal attacks on the internet.

When I found videogames.

Got a cat. And a dog. Then I lost a cat. Then I got another cat.

When I was first introduced to video games, my last relationship, and the beginning of high school.

Well... when I was a baby, I had some mental deficiency that, among other things, caused me to not be able to talk. It was really serious, and doctors kept telling my parents I'd never get out of it and be brain dead for life, and never be able to communicate. Miraculously, at the age of three, that all stopped, and I'm (Obviously) not brain dead. It's a complicated story, so I'm gonna get some more details of this event later, and make this more understandable.

My dad's best friend died at my grandmother's birthday.

When one night, my younger bro was being very uncooperative, and he's a tad autistic, so that doesn't help. It got physical, and my dad had to grab him from behind and pin him on the floor in front of his bedroom. He was helpless, but you know what? He was begging for one thing; and that was to hit me in the face, of all things.

I was horrified, de-spirited, and devastated all at once. Though I do learn things from such events, but it's sorta complicated.
