(For the record: this would be made in RPG Maker 2003, so, while I can't put in anything drastic like a Mode7 world map, some deviations from the engine, like in mini-games, are possible. Don't worry, I know how to utilize the engine to its fullest.)

After browsing around YouTube and checking out some videos of another forum-based RPG game (called "Topicgeddon", for the curious), I've been thinking about how an RPG based off of the MFGG forums would work. I've already got some inklings of a plot down in my head (it involves SoVeryHappy smilies, of course), and it will definitely involve MFGG members, but first, I figured I'd take a survey.

This topic, in case you can't read topic titles, is for you to put down whatever ideas you'd like in an RPG based off of the MFGG forums. I'll try to work most of the ideas in however I can, but, as I mentioned up at the top, there can't be anything to extravagant. Post away!

I'd strongly suggest you don't base it around MFGG. Most of the people who does it, does it for the + reputation, and then it dies. It contributes nothing to the fangaming community at all, and usually loses attraction a few days after it has been announced, while a good game can last forever.

It would involve you, the player, to go back in time to prevent these events from happening, because in the future, something happens, related to those events... Or you save MFGG from trolls and dupes that took over the administration, and in the end, it turns out to be an April-Fools joke. ph34r.gif

Also, yes, Zelda esque puzzles or maybe even dungeons would be nice.

First, I'd have to clarify what exactly you guys meant by "Zelda-esque dungeons". I'm thinking you mean "non-linear and with lots of keys", but I just want to be sure.

Well there is two ways you can do this.. Make it a MFGG game about the forums or about a fantasy of your adventures of them in it.

I got some great ideas and stories but I don't know if I should actually work on one since I might just get lazy.

I was planning to make it the latter (a console-style RPG featuring MFGG members in an otherwise-unrelated environment that borrows place names from the forums). Actually, now that you mention fantasy, I'm thinking that one of the locations could be the ruins of the Pointless Post Palace, long abandoned and infested with Boos and SoVeryHappys.

B.M.: Block puzzles are very possible. I'll make sure to work them in.

Mariogamer2123: SoVeryHappys are already planned as a recurring enemy with multiple types (so you have a SoVeryHappy, a SoVeryFlying with wings, a SoVeryDead ghost/zombie...).

By the way, I'm aiming to make the main character of the game Retriever II, with various other admins and members joining his party and making cameos throughout. There can be 8 characters in one party, although only four can be in RII's party at one time - the others have to wait in a sort of switching room (think Super Mario RPG, except it's a separate area entirely).

How does this sound?

The time-travel concept is what I tried when I tried to make an MFGG RPG. It's much different, though, than your idea.
