So on my game you got multiple weapons some thrown perfectly strait, and rather decent melee weapons. Then you got the hammers, they go in the exact same arch unless your moving, then it picks up some of your speed. Anyway besides a few glorious chain hits which have a rather nice scoring to them, there kind'a hard to use.

Since the enemy's hit boxes are a deal smaller then there sprites anyway i went ahead and gave the hammer a rather big hit box to help the likely hood of a hit. I change the way they bounce to make chain his easier, make them drill into the enemy causing repeat damage instead of bouncing, or something I hope I wont have to do and make them able to damage a high level of enemy's (enemy's with Armour, made of metal etc.). Maybe the last option can be reserved so when bosses have there defenses up hammers can still do damage.

Note:I had trowing axes in the game, but i removed them along with other weapons for being rather duplicate weapons jumbling up the rather simple game play.

So which path should I take? Or an all new idea for them if you can come up with one.

I can only imagine hammers as a hit-and-bounce weapon. They hit once, then the bounce off. A hammer drilling into the enemy... Nah, I don't see hammers doing that.

As for hammers dealing damage while bosses have their defenses up, it's actually a good idea, but with one condition: Make them deal less damage than if the enemy has no defenses up.

I believe that would make hammers useful, but not cheap.

OK, thanks. Also I'm make them kill twomps and amoured hammer bros as they were originally intended in Mario games. Originally only the halberd, Zeus fist, and magic could do this, which can be hard to come by sometimes.

Hey what if I made it skip across the ground once before falling off the screen? Um lower its power when it bounces of the ground though so its not too cheap.
