A game that can be compared to Super Mario 64 in some ways. The main thing about this game that makes it unique is that each individual quest does not have a name, so figuring out what to do can be difficult at times.

Basic Controls:
Up - Enter Door
Left/Right - Move Player/Cursor
Ctrl - Jump/Select
Backspace - Exit to World Map

Super Gem Scout Beta Version 0.1.1

Note: World 2 has not been completed yet. Entering said world will put yourself in an incomplete stage where getting the gem is impossible.

Instead of having so many different buttons, and even mouse interaction, maybe you should have a menu, and stop being lazy about the selections and make them button-based, too.

I'm not sure what you mean...

You can press Enter to select the next available gem that you haven't completed, and you can press a number from 1 to 9 to select the gem of that number.

So buttons work for selection.

Maybe I'm not understanding what you mean.

Enter - Select Newest Available Gem
Backspace - Back to Map while in Gem Select (You can also click the blue arrow)
L - Back to Map while in World

Could easily be merged into one menu.

And the places where you have to use the mouse are annoying.

Maybe you aren't understanding what I wrote...

Enter Selects the Newest Gem on the GEM SELECT SCREEN
Backspace goes to the World Select Map on the GEM SELECT SCREEN
L goes to the World Select Map while INSIDE OF A WORLD

And where is there any part in the game where you are required to use a mouse?

and tbh you just proved my point. You could easily have arranged those keys to be far more comfortable and less random.

Oh I see what you mean.

In that case, any suggestions as to what keys should be used?

Also, you don't need to use the mouse on that screen.

I tried all buttons and none seemed to work. Even if they DO work, it doesn't appear like it at all and is a major flaw.

Just press Enter...
or 1 if you want to do the level over again after completing it.

EDIT: I changed a bit of the controls to make them "less random", so the controls will be as follows for the next demo:

Ctrl will now select the newest available gem
Backspace will leave the stage in both a world and in the gem select screen

is this better?

why didn't I think of that

so shall it be written so shall it be done
...in the next demo

Ok the controls have been updated and will be as follows in the next demo:

Up - Enter Door
Left/Right - Move Player or Cursor
Ctrl - Jump/Select

that seem good?

It could use a little more 'flair.' I don't mind the graphics in the slightest, but you could really spice up the gameplay. For example, back flips, triple jump and maybe even some sort of attack. The enemy/enemies could be a little more creative too, they could charge at you or something.

Well the character isn't meant to have any attacks; just kick things the bosses throw at you back at them.

And as for enemies, the world 1 enemies are pretty simple, but they will get more complex as you progress farther into the game.

I can't really make the character able to jump higher than he already can, because that would make the levels very different (probably easier).

Sorry for not being able to add the flair you wanted. Is there something else you think should be changed about the game?
