Not in a video game, but I love all the hidden features on the Cloverfield DVD.

Not sure if these count but...

In Pokemon D/P, if you use a "walk through walls" cheat and go out of hte play area, the games calls it the "Mystery Zone", just as it would call a town by it's name. Also, if you catch/ hatch a pokemon here, it will state it on the pokemons info.

Also, with the same cheat, if you walk past the entrance to one of the 3 main lakes and go into the trees, you will find a large puddle.

Totaka's Song.
Or, uh, I dunno if this is considered an easter egg, but there's a poem about piracy hidden somewhere in the Mac OS X Operating System's corefiles. It goes:
“Your karma check for today: There once was a user that whined his existing OS was so blind, he’d do better to pirate an OS that ran great but found his hardware declined. Please don’t steal Mac OS! Really, that’s way uncool. © Apple Computer Inc.”

Also, not sure if this counts either but,

As with my others, if you use the Walk through walls cheat in Pokemon D/P and walk into the Mystery Zone long enough, different area signs will appear at the top of the screen, telling you your location (you don't need to be anywhere near these places though.)

After a while, it will say "Turnback Cave" and the screen will be covered with a mist. If you actually turn back, the areas will disapear and you will be trapped. If you continue, you appear in a "town" and can fly back to the normal game area.

Rick Roll in Chrono Trigger if that counts..

seeing as it was almost certainly unintentional unless proven otherwise, i'm going to have to say no

QUOTE
In this game called Custom Robo, you'll eventually get to a part where your friends ask if you'll help in defeating some ultimate evil. If you say "No", they'll present you with more arguments. Keep answering No, and after many many many questions, they'll give up and leave without you. Then the screen blacks out, and a message pops up saying everyone dies because you didn't help.

that's called a non-standard game over and is completely different

anyways i can't really think of any off the top of my head but the houilihan room and the developers credits (both already posted) are pretty good ones

Actually I'm fairly sure it's a joke done by the localisation team. The name is used twice or so, and that leads me to believe they were having a laugh when they called him Error.

Out of This Dimention in Starfox.
It took me 3 generations to know how to get there and beat the Slot Machine. After you beat it, you'll end up in the credit roll while still piloting your Arwing.
Though I required the help of YouTube to get to Out of This Dimension, I got to Blackhole with the help of Gamefaqs, since the instructions to get there were clearer to me. It's awesome to see all those bosses floating helpless.

Lots of video game composers take inspiration from popular music, especially if it was a hit at some time

Never Gonna Give You Up DID exist before CT, after all, so the possibility isn't completely out of the question. Earthbound's soundtrack is just full of inspiration from the Beatles!

Sorry if this post was made a while ago, but WHAT?!

I said "No" to him and he fought me anyways! >:(

I'm sorry but that is impossible

I have beaten Cave Story at least eighty times and I know for a fact telling him "No" allows you to skip the first fight in the Mimiga Village warehouse

You're probably mixed up and are thinking of the grasstown fight, because you cannot skip that one user posted image

The freecell solitaire game in Windows, it will allow you to set the result to win or lose instantly. One day when someone was using the computer at my school, they were playing freecell, while they were in the toilet I pushed that key to set it to win on next move, then they came back, whatever next move they push, it moves all the cards to the top (but not necessarily in the right order) and it says you win the game. So, they then were finished with computer and I could then make something else on the computer
