When I was younger and had an N64 and SNES, I bought a fair share of games, but often I found myself at Blockbuster, just renting games all the time. Even big hits like Zelda Ocarina of Time and Mario 64 I never bought (Untill their GameCube/Virtual Console releases, that is), but I just rented a ****ton of times hoping to get a cartridge with a "good" file (aka a file with adult link, all worlds unlocked, etc). Even some games that I purchased used I didn't really attempt to beat, and played them leisurely at my own pace. The original Banjo-Kazooie I bought at Blockbuster with files already on it, I rarely ever made an attempt to get Jiggies, and just went through worlds, collecting Notes and winning Jiggies already unlocked.

Those were the good old days. Discuss your gaming nostalgia here.

I think the last game I ever rented was Super Mario Sunshine back when it was new. I don't rent anymore.

It was rare for me to buy games, so every once in a while I'd rent a game. Then my SNES broke, I gave away the games I had (doh), and that was that until 2000 when I got an N64. I rented sometimes then, but I started buying more used games. I rarely rented after getting a gamecube, and I haven't rented at all with the wii (but I also own like ... no games for it).

I used to rent games until I kept Mickey's Speedway USA for a month and it ended up being more cost effective for my parents to just buy me the games.

I used to rent like a fiend between pre-school to 4th grade. I was always at blockbuster lookin for some new game or for an unpopular/unheard of one just so that I could have something to play that wasn't hyped.

I remember I rented some weird ass games for the SNES when I was little. Some game called Booger-Man, which was just odd. I remember some Claymation fighting game, another clay game that was a platformer which I remember being awesome, and I think I even rented Sega Genesis and Playstation games because I liked the boxes. :P

I used to be able to rent games, 3 at a time, every month or so.

Renting a new PSX game, burning a copy for myself, and then never playing my copy after I returned the real one.
Those were the days.

I also remember renting Legend of Mana from Blockbuster once, beating it in a week, and then once I actually got a copy (about 5 years now) and I haven't beaten it a second time since.

I loved Super Booger Man when I was little. Also was that clay fighting game by chance called "Clay Fighters"? Cause that game was great to. Also for one last third thing, was that clay platformer about a kid whose dad was captured by a witch doctor who in turn, turned the kid into a ball of clay who can absorb other clay pieces to become clay animals?

You just like brought back a massive nostalgic moment from when I was like 6 or 7.

Hmm, I just looked up Claymates and while the box looks very farmiliar, the screens of the game itself look nothing like what I remember. I remember becoming a clay ball though, but the graphics look very different.

My mom used to baby sit this guy, so he'd rent the games and we'd pretty much keep them until they needed to be returned (since he didn't have a snes). We started renting from flea markets for N64 games, good times especially since there really wasn't much of a limit to how long we could keep it (basically we just had to return it when we went to rent another game). Renting games pretty much ended after the N64 for me. T'was pretty cool I guess, since I didn't have money to buy much and now pirating is the way to go.

when you beat games within a few days of getting them anyway combined with a measly pocket-money income it was quite a good way to spend money :D

for me at least

The second game Marth described (boy becomes blue blob) is Claymates. I think it has to be what you were describing, though, how many clay games can there be?

I used to rent games like crazy back then. Now I'm more of a collector and buy games I really like and rent games I don't plan on buying yet are still interested in playing.

I used to rent all the time.

For some reason I always loved playing where somewhere last left off(When the games data was saved internally) I believe I rented Super Smash Bros for n64 maybe 6 times, but for some reason never bought it.

The last game I rented was..uhh..I don't even remember. It was some game on the PS2. 4-5 years ago maybe.
