Should I get the Wii version of Twilight Princess considering I already own the GameCube version?
Yes, the motion-based controls make it an entirely different experience [ 2 ]  [9.52%]
No, the motion-based controls make little difference and buying a second version would be a waste of money [ 10 ]  [47.62%]

I bought the GameCube version of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on its release day as I didn't own a Wii at the time. I've heard people since describe the GCN version as superior, anyway, with people saying the motion controls of the Wii version felt tacked on. I've also had my suspicions that playing a horizontally-flipped version of a game with which I'm already familiar might be a bit confusing at times.

Anyway, I'm kinda interested in trying it out, but should I even bother?

I'm sure that the graphics would be lots better, and the controls would be fun. However, TBH there wasn't a whole lot that used the Wiimote controls (other than using the wiimote to point your bow/slingshot and shaking it to swing your sword). I guess it's really your choice.

If I had to choose between the two versions, I'd take the Wii version (which I have). But if I already had the Cube version, I'd not get the Wii version.

No. THE ENTIRE GAME IS FLIPPED! IT WILL CONFUSE YOU.

ARGH why did they have to flip the entire game just to make Link RIGHT-HANDED. He's not even right-handed! Who cares that most of the people on the planet are right-handed. Link is not! *angerangerfumefume*

the *only* reason I would get it is to install the homebrew channel.

even then you can just rent it.

Didn't Nintendo "fix" that with one of their System Updates? Because I'm pretty sure I'm operating with the most current firmware.

I think they did. And either way, they've been bundling the latest updates with games so you have to update, so it really isn't worth it.

uh,

http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Wii_System_Updates

# Blocks the installation of the Twilight Hack version 0.1beta1. Twilight Hack version 0.1beta2 (because of its not being version 0.1beta1) can still be installed for long enough to install HBC.

you should be able to do it still.

edit: and iirc there are ways to bypass the update checks when running new games

Frankly, I found the GCN version to be much better. The motion controls actually didn't bother me too much, but the movement did. For some reason, Link felt very hard to control in the Wii version. I never even made it through the second dungeon. Later I got the GCN version and had no issues with control. It played fine, and I had a much better time.

Honestly, You should get it if you would like to try a more free aiming with the bow or items like that, or if you have a widescreen TV (so you can play it widescreen, of course).
Just don't get it if you think it's cool swing around with the Wiimote because it isn't. The motion controls in it are quite messed and you'll often find yourself swinging the Wiimote or nunchunk more than one time because the game never reads the motion. For example, if you have Galaxy, I should tell you you gotta swing your Wiimote even FARTHER than you had to in Galaxy. The Nunchunk got a weird control scheme, too, in that you can Shield Attack pushing it forward and Spin Attack by shaking it. Those two commands always get messed, so I rarely used Shield Attack move through the game.

That, and also the fact that they randomly reversed the entire game and I feel stupid by having TP but seeing that Brawl's Bridge of Eldin stage is actually the original, Gamecube version of the map >:/

Considering the difference of size between the Wii and GC disks is 3.2GB-7.04GB and the difference of graphics cards is a 162MHz, 24-bit, 8KB, built-in card and a 243MHz, 32-bit, 64MB, ATi Card, I'm sure that the graphics should be exactly the same!

but probably are

they are. don't think they bothered including improved models etc., just copied what they had on the gamecube version and flipped it all horizontally, then went through the dialogue etc. and swapped east with west.

have both, regret buying the wii version. gamecube version kicked its ass. as mike said, the wii version has only ever been useful to me to enable homebrew software, but that only warrants borrowing or renting it.
