you guys aren't kidding about that "FPS on consoles don't work" thing


Well okay, I sorta knew they didn't work already, but I had assumed at this point that decent auto-targetting had become a standard because the right analogue stick is awful for aiming. Clearly not. Then again I'd hoped that the Dreamcast's "Jump with left trigger" had become a standard too but meh.

And what little I played of Left4Dead seemed to work fine on a controller. Worked a lot better than Call of Duty World at War, anyway.



but really I had the same troubles on the Dreamcast back in what... 2001/2002? Shouldn't there be a standard "FPS on console" control method that works without the need to train for long periods of time to master the delights of the left analogue stick

You get used to it eventually, but even then, you're still limited since you can't just turn around the instant someone is behind you, you have to slowly do it, giving them plenty of time to shoot you.

I prefer console FPS's simply because I hate using the mouse in games.

I prefer PC FPS' simply because I love using the mouse in games.

I'm used to doing both though I prefer using the mouse for any shooters. For games like uncharted or gears of war however, I find that using the controller is better.

I like PC FPS games better because I can use a mouse and keyboard/I don't need a mic to talk to people/I don't have to change the disc every time I want to play a different game/my reset button is called "task manager"

wrist and forearm movement on a mousepad is just soooo much better than a tiny joystick and thumb...

Although there is this converter plug to use a mouse and keyboard on 360,
but it's like 70$

This is true for most console FPS games, but not for Left 4 Dead. The right bumper can be used to do a 180 degree quick turn.


Also, to be honest, I'm more for console FPS games, but that's only because it's what I'm used to. I'm sure that if I played a really good PC FPS, I'd like it more, or at least be more open to PC gaming. As it is now, it's really not my thing to play games on a PC.

I'm not a big FPS guy, the only online FPS I REALLY enjoyed was Team Fortress 2, so I don't see the need to get a good graphics card for one game. I prefer adventure games, platformers, etc, stuff that PCs don't have, which is why I prefer consoles to computers. You can't get Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Fable II, Super Mario Galaxy, No More Heroes, Sonic Unleashed, etc on a computer.

turns out I can't do the super fast attack dodging action I do with brawl

I got my ass whooped by some asian kid ;_;

Banjo Tooie had the best FPS I've ever played

Eh I think Bioshock was actually pretty good for a console FPS...

But I think that maybe be because the auto-aim pretty much has a 180 degree area. :/

Wii fps's are even worse imo

I prefer console FPS simply because I've grown up with it.

It really seems to depend on what you have used most of your life. It's difficult to switch between the two if you are used to one or the other.
