So I'm done with gamemaker, I came to this conclusion when, while making a physics based game that I was going to show you guys soon, I realized how much I was having to do just to get the program to not crash when more than like, 10 objects were onscreen at once. Now, I could have gotten past this but I SHOULDNT HAVE TO.

So I'm moving on to something more powerful or more advanced.

Anyone done anything with Construct? Thats looking pretty cool to me right now.

Of course I'm open to anything except NOT MMF OR CLICKTEAM OR WHATEVER THOSE THINGS ARE CALLED they're just as ****ty as gamemaker and that would not solve my problems at all.

See I have Mechasource and, while its nice, I'd like something with a bit more advanced coding.

C++ is awesome, although it's hard to make something big. If you know Game Maker well and end up learning C++, ENIGMA might be a nice option in the near future.

Stencyl one it comes out may be what you need. I'm pretty sure it uses Java coding.

Stencyl does.

For a little info, Game Maker's code is based off Delphi, Java, and C++. Stencyl's is Java, and Clickteam is Lua. Personally, I like C++ the most, but that's just me.

I'm pretty sure Construct uses Python and C++ so I'll be good with that.

Thanks for the encouragement all, also, to whoever said Stencyl, isn't that MORE simple than Gamemaker? To me it looks like an advanced level editor.

It probably is. But it also allows you to code and edit "snippets", something Game Maker does not allow.

Snippets the relative equal to being given choices of codes for beginners to change variables of and choose by clicking on it. I forgot what it is called in Game Maker.

Its just, Stencyl seems like it'd be good for someone using Gamemaker's D&D functions who wanted a bit more advanced and stylish interface.

But I'm like, versed in GML, Java, Python, and Visual Basic because thats what my stupid comp sci class teaches.

So, while I will get stencyl because it looks fun, it'd be quite a step down for me.

Yeah gamemaker has a really fleshed out coding language that I still love.

Also its really similar to Python, so its not that bad, its just, Gamemaker handles code really crappily and this causes alot of things to not be possible.

Since Stencyl isn't even released nor do I even fully understand the released information about it, I was just giving a suggestion. I think checking their forums would help a bit if it really would be going backwards.

Try using FreeBASIC.

The BASIC Language and variants teach bad Programming Habits. They are NOT recommended.

The BASIC Language can teach good habits depending on how it's taught. Using plenty of comments, how functions work, how loops work, and so on.

I'm not saying that you can transfer EVERYTHING you know from BASIC into another language unless you like lots of coding errors, but learning BASIC can help you learn another language faster.

Like learning one Latin-based language before another. If you know Spanish, it helps when you're learning French, since they have the same base. Not everything is the same (Monsieur/Senor, Oui/Si, Anglais/Englas), but it certainly helps.

If you like GM's interface in general but want more fps out of that thing you should use ENIGMA, although I have no idea when it will be as powerful as GM is. (doesn't support sound yet and a lot of other stuff)
