Hi, I'm new to the forums. But anyway, I am getting an iMac next week and was wondering (since I couldn't find it anywhere on the forums) if any of these fangames hosted on this site will run on Mac OS X. Does anybody know? Or is it Windows only? Thanks

I'm not sure if TGF2 or MMF2 games would run on mac, but I'm pretty sure Gamemaker doesn't because it requires DirectX which is only on windows.

Early versions of GM might work however.

Ok thanks for letting me know. And believe me, I've had PCs all my life and I know they're better for gaming, but this iMac is just for me. I still have other PCs I can use in my house, just not all the time.

There is a version of Game Maker 7 under development for Mac. Its functionality is shown in this outdated video.
It is supposedly scheduled to be released sometime early this year.

To my knowledge, Multimedia Fusion (Developer?) can save projects as Java applets. Macs can run Java applets but don't expect full speed nor compatibility. I guess Xgoff knows better, so don't put your finger on it.

Yeah it can export to Java, however, alot of extensions aren't converted yet, and it can run slow and wacky at times.

This might help, even though it doesn't run all the games on the site, but it's decent enough to run MMF games(and old GM games).

The EXE extension is Windows-only. Most statistics say that only 10% of all people with computers use Mac, 5% for Linux, and 85% Windows. So, yeah, Fangames are Windows-only, mostly, unlesd there's WINE for Mac.

But aren't there some sort of applications to "emulate" the Windows environment on a Mac (to primary load games that were developed primarily for the Windows system). I'm a bit confused here.

Runtime for Windows that isn't Windows doesn't work the best.
