It's hard to say, given that Mario's height is unknown. Also I'm not quite sure how many block heights he jumps when he jumps in place, but according to my only-partially-accurate WIP Mario engine (which I'm modeling mostly after SMW's engine), he can jump about 4 block heights when he's not horizontally moving.
But let's hypothetically say that Mario is 5'6" high in his Super form (yeah, it sounds really short, but consider when he's next to Peach at the end of SMB3, and Super in form). He seems to be about 1.5 blocks in height, and (5.5 feet / 1.5) * 4 = about 15 feet.
Therefore, when he starts from standing still, Mario can probably jump 15-ish feet in height.
EDIT: Wow, BurninLeo's answer and my answer are fairly close.
EDIT2: Edited for units.

No wonder he's so famous for his Jumping Skillz! Since he can jump 6 Blocks High when Running in some engines, how high would you say he could jump while running?
