[CFP Meeting], Next: Sunday, October 18

This topic is always bumped when a chatroom on the IRC is open.
Since March 14, 2009, the main means of communication is AIM though!
The room in the IRC will still be opened though.

Join this room if you want to talk about the CFP.
These chats will take place on each Friday or Saturday in the American afternoon and the European late night (around 21.00/22.00 GMT).

Since there are so many meetings, it's not obligatory to be at every single one of them, however I'd appreciate as many people as possible.

The point of this is to keep the CFP alive, as said in the other topic.

Come on guys! We are talking bosses.

Summary of Saturday, January 31, 2009:

Main discussion: Story
Syrup finds/steals a book about the King Midas. The book talks about plans for a Midas Machine and artifacts that are needed to complete it. The plans are located in the vault of Toadstool Castle.
She decides to ask Bowser to side with her: "You get the Mushroom Kingdom, I get the gold!"

She borrows an airship from Bowser and goes to the Mushroom Kingdom where she steals the plans and Mario and Luigi try to stop her. Ad they fail, they chase her.
In the meantime, Bowser goes to the Desert Ruins where Wario and Waluigi are on a treasure hunt and coincidently found the artifact Bowser was looking for. Bowser steals said artifact and Wario and Waluigi chase him too.

During Syrup's flight from the Castle she builds the machine on the ship.
When she meets with Bowser at the junction between the Mushroom Kingdom and the Desert Ruins, they throw in Bowser's artifact to complete the first prototype of the Midas Machine.
The Mario Bros. finally arrive and so do the Wario Bros.
Bowser and Syrup decide to try out the machine, but it fails to transform the Bros. into gold. When Mario tries to eat a mushroom he finds that they have been transformed into gold though.

The Bros. decide to unite and find the remaining artifacts needed to complete the Midas Machine before Bowser and Syrup do.
Additionally, Wario says that in order to restore the mushrooms, all need to be found and brought to the Midas Machine. The intention is that Wario and Waluigi keep the golden mushrooms of course.

The real adventure starts here.


Boss fights:
We've also talked about boss fights.
We might have a free-fall boss fight and a ridiculously huge boss.
We will not have generic bosses. If a boss has been a boss in previous games he will have new movesets.

Summary of Feb. 14, 2009 Chat

This chat wasn't very long, but we got some key points out of the way. The plans debate I believe is settled - instead of Midas making the plans, Syrup does.
Also, we talked a long time about the "golden relic/artifact/essences." We came up with a few possibilities that I don't believe we were completely settled, but Guinea came up with keys. "Ancient" keys that hold the power to turn things to gold if used correctly, so the Midas Machine was built to be able to use the keys.

Again, this was a very short chat, so next time we're gonna need more people!

Come in, come in! Even if you haven't worked on the CFP before.

Results of February 28, 2009:
- We use cherries and garlic as health replenishers
- We have a 3-hit-point system
- You can suggest your vision of that system in the Concept Art topic

- Lives are mini pipes found in ?-blocks (see MLSS). When you die, those bring you back to the last checkpoint.
- If you're out of pipes, you get thrown out of the level.
- There might or might not be a Game Over screen if that happens.


I hope we have at least as many participants on the next chat.
We will be discussing the concepts of the health gauge posted by you guys in the concept art topic as well as taking another shot at story, bosses, enemies if we have the time.
