That's right, GM5 is now 100% Compatible with WINE! They fixed the Glitch where it deleted the code from the code window! GNU/Linux users, upgrade to WINE 1.1.14 now! I doubt they fixed it to the point where you don't need Fullscreen to make the EXEs made by GM6/7 run correctly, though.

It does work, it's just not very fast, and all the objects are placed relative to the Top-Left of your Monitor instead of the Top-Left of the Window. That's why Fullscreen is recommended. There's also some Flickering. D:

Why do people insist on using Linux if there are all these compatibility problems with it? And yet, people freak out when Microsoft even has the slightest compatibility problems. Is it for lightweight purposes? Programming purposes? I seriously want to know because it's been annoying me for quite a while now.

I'm not about to go out of my way to make sure my game will work for an OS I don't even understand, and quite frankly don't want to waste my time understanding in the first place when I could be doing much more productive things in the meantime.

Well, for one thing, GNU/Linux has NO Restrictions. The only restriction AFAIK is that you can't sell it. Also, it is much faster on some computers than Windows or Mac. Also, if you are good at programming, you can use the GNU/Linux Kernals to make your OWN Operating System! There is also a Package Manager that allows you to choose from and install 1000s of Updates, Libraries, Games, Programs, etc. Also, GNU/Linux based OSes tend to have a nice, smooth GUI that is easy to use. Another + for GNU/Linux is that it DOES support most, if not all, Windows Drivers. I know it supports the ATi Radeon Drivers, and I know for sure it supports several parts of DirectX. The only reason it can run GM6/7 Games correctly is because GM6/7 uses a newer version of DirectX that isn't fully supported by WINE yet. I do know that it supports some older versions of DirectX because SDL for Windows uses DirectX, and the Windows Version of SDL Mario Engine works under Ubuntu WINE.

It's not GNU/Linux kernal. GNU/Linux and KERNAL are two completely different operating systems. GNU/Linux means GNU operating system with the Linux kernel.

Well, you can try combining KERNAL and GNU/Linux, but it won't become very successful.

Razz, Linux can execute EXEs no more than Macs can. It's a Windows format. WINE is a WINdows Emulator for Linux, which allows you to play EXEs. It's nowheres near perfect, but it's getting there.

No. That's not it at all. I use Ubuntu Linux because it's faster than Windows and has a nice GUI. Others use Linux usually because it's free and fast.
