also this is awesome

There's a chance I could hold a tournament with this and maybe people would bother to sign up.

But I'd only allow your actual in-game Pokemon to be registered.

Maybe there could be two simultaneous divisions:

True Pokemon: Only create your Pokemon from your game, down to the exact move stats and everything.
Free Construction: Make whatever team you want from scratch.

That way, people who enjoy playing the game can use their hard-trained Pokemon, and people who don't want to play the game but just create things can do that.

isn't shoddy battle enough? It's pretty much useless to make another D/P battle simulator.

Well I hear bad things about Shoddy Battle.

Plus it has the mark of Smogon on it. To which I stay away from.

Just installed a copy. Glad to see this program alive and well again, brings back memories. I'm currently trying to re-create my Baton Pass team of old~
I remember actually being decent at this too. Those were the days =| lawl.

(Building my team for G/S/C rules because every game after that can suck it.)

or you could just use the built-in WiFi for those games
and not make a bunch of dumb unenforceable rules for this one
in which designing your own team by hand is kind of the point

there's no world in which to grind "hard-train" for NetBattle and there shouldn't have to be. requiring the use of a separate game to this end is a pretty bad idea (and the only people who would probably end up participating in such a tournament would be the people insecure about having wasted so much of their lives grinding pokeylevels for whom that kind of system would be necessary to make it "fair" and to make them feel better about said timesink)

also this is actually kinda cool, i always liked netbattle because it didn't require the absurd grindan that pokemon does (when a game beats disgaea by hours and hours in required precision in grinding, you know something's very, very wrong)

so is anyone hosting a server for this or something

Well nobody bothered to finish the ones that have been made before.

This way, people might be more likely to join, plush everyone can get what they want.

Seriously... this is why I said there's two different simultanous tournament modes I had in mind. So people could either play with their own real teams, or just synthesize their own instantly. Or both, even.

If people will commit to and finish one of the regular wifi tournaments, then maybe I'll start it on wifi. More people would possibly want to play it on this program like it used to be.

If people wanted to have a "use your own teams" tournament, they'd play with their D/P teams instead

netbattle is a completely different entity

besides, I doubt anyone here has at least six level 100s

arrange a wifi tournament someplace else, somewhere that doesn't have a userbase consisting of mainly ADD inflicted preteens

This is bringing back so many memories, like how everyone used to thief MikeL's baton pass set-up. Or was that just me?

Dont make a D/P wifi tournament. Make a tournament with this and forget the whole "your teams must be from D/P" rule. Everyone can make their own teams, so it's a level playing field. And no grind.

But that beats the whole point of me training my freaking Pokemon in the first place! Which I did plenty of!
