What's this? Toodles actually finished a game? Unbelievable!

Yep, it's been over a year since I actually finished a game so I thought I was due. Surprisingly, this is also my first non-Mario themed game since 2005, so again, I thought I was due. I also finally switched from GM5 to GM6...which is still outdated but it's better than GM5. Geom Wars is a fairly basic Geometry Wars clone. I made it as a little birthday gift for my brother, who is a big fan of Geometry Wars. Unfortunately, I didn't think to make it until Wednesday last week, so I haven't had a lot of time to put it together. As a result, it's not exactly overflowing with polish and a number of elements are inaccurate. Still, as a fun little time killer, I think it works.

Differences from Geometry Wars:
-No enemies appear beyond snakes. That means no black holes, those stupid little triangles, or those red things with the shields
-Small pink squares move in a less sporadic pattern
-Green Squares are pretty much never successful in avoiding your shots.
-Green Squares are faster than usual to make up for the last point
-Geoms are present, and act as the score multiplier, much like Geometry Wars: Galaxies
-There are no 1-ups or extra bombs

There's a few other minor differences. Despite the flaws, I still think it captures the mood and fun of Geometry Wars fairly well. If you must, you can point out suggestions and such, but as it was a quick little gift game, I'm probably not going to work on it anymore.

I'm downloading this right now. I'll comment on it shortly.

MEANTIME EVERYBOY SHOULD CHECK OUT THIS GAME BECAUSE ANYTHING GEOMETRY WARS RELATED IS AWESOME

EDIT: Wow, Toodles. This is great! It's an amazing semi-clone of Geometry Wars.

Perhaps my only issue was getting over the odd aiming; as you move you aim in different places, which was a bit unnatural and hard to get used to. Perhaps scrolling the screen might help with that.

Extra lives and bombs would also have been nice, too.

But for what it is right now, it's a great job. Well done!

Falcon Punch is the result of the Sun heating fists. It drives the Blue Falcon. Heating causes destruction of water into the pain, where it then hurts, creating rain. Rain creates flowing water in tears, which can then be converted into other forms through more pain.

It's alright.

The mouse aiming thing is pretty cool, and while the no extra bombs or lives shortens the game, it does make it more challenging to get a higher score.

Thanks. I was originally going to have extra lives and such, but I really was kind of shooting for more of a quick boredom killer rather than a really deep arcade experience like the original, so that's why I left them out.

And yeah, the aiming turned out a little odd at times. The thing to remember is that your shots are going to go exactly to the cursor, no matter where the ship is at the time. I made the mask on the shots a little larger that it should be to allow some room for error.

This is really awesome toodles.

Also the fact that you made all of the particle effects in Unregistered is pretty impressive.

You know the particles weren't really that hard. I just created one generic particle, and then duplicated it in different colors. Quite simple, actually.

Yeah I've had points where I was cranking at a particle system and thought that this would all be easier with objects...

Thing is you can't have nearly as many object based particles as real particles on the screen at once.

That's true...

...not that I really had a choice here since it's unregistered mind you, but with "real" particles I probably could have made it look more accurate to the real deal. I did want to keep the graphics relatively simple, though, after seeing what happened to Grid Wars.
