Searching no more.
Alright, so if you remember last year, NCFC 2008 (NCFC 2) was definitely a success. More-so than the last one, despite prizes being not as good - more entries, more activities, tournaments, a working trivia, more people, and more branching out to other websites.
Unfortunately, Shadowman and I have had our fill of doing it. Shadowman might be involved with NCFC this year, but at a distance, being involved with the radio show, and maybe a few tiny other things.
I have little interest in organizing it again this year - don't get me wrong, I loved how it went, and I really want there to be an NCFC again - I've just had my time for organizing it, and am now done. I will still want to do the radio, as it is my profession, and focusing solely on the radio means the ability to better prepare programs, music and other fun stuff on the radio.
This does not mean NCFC is not happening. If you recall, one of our server assistance and NCFC committee members was an appreciative asset for both years. MetroidMaster (or MetroidMaster1914) was that individual. He has taken an interest in organizing NCFC this year.
Of course, there were two people working on NCFC for two years, and last year, we just BARELY made the deadline - we were still working on the website right up to the minute of unleashing NCFC, if you recall being there for the midnight countdown.
So, to get down to the bottom of it, we need people with a very keen interest in fangaming, and a good sense of responsibility to assist MetroidMaster. I know we only had two people, but as I said, we were close to missing the NCFC deadline last year because of how big it got. Not to mention Shadowman and I have had experience to grow into a big NCFC event - this year could potentially be bigger, and there's going to be a need for beginner NCFC Staff to dip their feet into the water.
We're requiring 2, or maybe even 3 people to help MetroidMaster.
If you're interested, please either reply or send me a message. The entrants will be chosen by me, and then will be given some information regarding how we organized the previous NCFC events, some tips, ideas and generally how NCFC is set up to a standard.
The rest of NCFC will then be completely up to you guys and MetroidMaster to control and organize how you want.
Thank you for your attention!
Things you would potentially do as an organizer/team member: - Build/Improve the Site. - Organize e-mail and creating a database of all booths. - Creating a template site (or using the same one we did) for participants to use and for yourselves to build for the participants if they cannot create one. - Creating ideas for events. - Carry out events/supervise them. - Schedule events. - Schedule workshops. - Take care of the forum.
There's a little more than that, and of course that isn't all done by one person - it can all be done collectively, or staff can be split up to work on different sectors.

Allow me to clarify. My responsibilities leading up to the event were: - Designing, updating, and organizing the website, including booth and event lists
- Designing site graphics
- Managing registrations, workshops, and Q&A question submissions
- Regularly contacting booth participants for progress updates and milestone reminders
- Responding to email questions/keeping correspondence
- Managing the email account (sorting emails, etc.)
- Recruiting/maintaining relationships with sites and projects
- Generating ideas for events and tournaments
- Test runs of radio programs, events, and tournaments
- Maintaining the IRC (moderation, registration, etc.)
- Occasional, usually nightly meetings with event staff (includes coordinating event specifics with the rest of the staff)
- Testing booths for quality
During the event: - Monitoring the booth list for updates
- Continually updating the website with reports, changes, and additional links
- Creating new site graphics as necessary, including booth icons
- Moderating the NCFC forum/IRC
- Running events
- Co-hosting the nightly radio program
- Coordinating events/changes with other staff members
- Contacting Q&A participants
What we'd still liked to have had: - Publicity
- Officially reviewing booths
- More in-depth website design, preferably with PHP and easier, more visible news updating
- More staff for carrying out the day-to-day specifics and implementation of these responsibilities
We aren't particularly looking for people to generate ideas; that would still be handled by the people running the event. We do, however, need people to carry out the secretary-like responsibilities of updating and managing the website and registrations.

| QUOTE | | Regularly contacting booth participants for progress updates and milestone reminders |
progress updates? To see how their project is doing, right? milestone reminders? like event days and stuff? | QUOTE | | Generating ideas for events and tournaments |
what kind of tournaments are we talking about here? sprite ones, online game ones, or just any kind in general? | QUOTE | | Test runs of radio programs, events, and tournaments |
test runs? | QUOTE | | Testing booths for quality |
this just means checking and making sure everything works, right? | QUOTE | | More in-depth website design, preferably with PHP and easier, more visible news updating |
wondering what kind of in-depth editing you really need here. Just a simple news/content editor?
and when does this start?
anyway I'm still thinking about it- it's a lot of stuff! I don't think I'd be too much help in the graphics design department but I can probably help with pretty much everything else- I'll post a resume type thing maybe later if it doesn't seem too daunting.
